Thumbs down boost + bald tires + sand = ouch

ahhhhh the rx7 got its *** kicked!

yeah well tonight i was going to dinner. on the way i had to stop to put air in my tires since one was going flat (just got a screw in it recently)...

then im driving north, and come to where i need to make a u-turn. there were cars in front of me, and when we get a green arrow they all go and make a left turn and i follow but start to make a uturn....WELLLLLL as i start to take the u turn, i go through a pile of sand and the ENTIRE car starts sliding sideways.... so i try to correct but the car slides the other way and then hops a curb and stops.

ouch

i mean im fine and no one was hurt or anything but the car is kinda banged up...

the front wheels were turned when they hit the curb so they jumpped up and smashed in my fenders.... (18.5"x8.5" rims w/ 235 tires & lowering springs...)

the front bumper was ALREADY busted up from when i hit that armadillo two & 1/2 weeks ago, so when it hit the curb its smashed up and bent the front of my hood.....

oh and two of the rims smashed the curb and have major curb rash w/ flat tires.....

well...... from hitting the armadillo i now have a carbon creations bumper + 99spec signals on their way, so i guess after this i might end up w/ more carbon fiber body parts haha.

yeah it sucks, and im pissed, but oh well. i mean once in awhile ill whip it around a turn, but right now my car needs an oil change (just got the oil in the mail today....) and there was a screw in one of the tires, so i was just trying to take the turn normally.....ahhhh poor rx7!!!

pics are attached....

im a dumbass

That sucks, atleast there's no injuries or other property damage, your insurance will pay,but then you'll have some new parts.

I have a friend that lives in sarasota, I'm in Bradenton, and she sees your 7 on tamiami trail all of the time. She even called me today, since i'm at work (24 hrs)and acuused me of lying cause she just saw me or somebody stole it.Cause I have silver 93 touring with chrome 19" with 99 spec front and supra spoiler. She's a girl and just see's a silver rx7 with rims, and thinks it's me. I seen your ride on the road it looks good with the rims, good luck with your 7 hope it works out.

take a turn normally, with boost in the title???

spend all this money making your car look nice...and probably fast , but fail to spend money on the things that make it safe "where to spend $500?"

note to young FD owners...First mod: bring your 10 year old car's performance up to par.

this is not meant to be an insult, I hate hearing these stories and then "bald tires" in the title. You drive a high performance sports car, treat it like one...its not cheap in the first place to own an FD, so don't say you don't have the money.

uh im 20. ive had this car for over a year and never even bumped into anything before this. (exception of the armadillo that ran in front of me at night two weeks ago...)

and anyway i didnt say FULL boost...my car starts to make boost shortly afte 2000rpm...every time i start to accelerate i can hear the turbos sucking as soon as i get the clutch out.

the tires werent 100% bald. they had about 30% tread left on them. i was going to order new tired on monday. ive been very busy with classes every day, weekend projects, and im working on getting my pilots license now so ive been spending all the extra time logging flight hours. i just put $2k in the bank so i was going to do some upkeep to the car. money isnt the issue, it was a matter of time.

20. Boy, that's plenty of experience. You obviously were going too fast around the corner, which you could obviously see since it was a short u-turn. You tried to accelerate too fast and wrecked your car. Nice.

The turbos were not the only thing sucking

Whipping your tail around a corner is fun if you pull it off right. I tend to do that sometimes but the only times I do it is if there's a very wide street with no curbs, just grass. Still scared of the car though since I've had it only for a few months so I'm taking it easy most the time.

wow way to be a ****. dude im plenty confident in my driving abilities and i have never had a shitty experience like this before. (ive been auto-x'ing atleast several times and i know how to handle my car.) i wasnt going any faster than i normally would. my tires were a little bald and i ran over some ****, could happen to anyone. how many times have people posted thread like "spun out in the rain" or "slid in the snow" and got into wrecks.

now ive gotta pay $500 to get my car fixed and my insurance will prob go up. i dont need some ******* trying to give me **** about it. go **** yourself

Fujikuro: What were you expecting? You bent over and spread your butt cheeks with that first post. If you're screwing around and you wreck you car because of it, this forum is probably one of the last places to come if you're not expecting to get harassed.

well he is fixing it so it seems fine to me. nobody was hurt and hopefully he learned something or another from this experience. i mean it was an accident, its not like he was on purposly trying to hurt his car. dont tell me none of you have ever accidently did something stupid in your car.

I whipped the tail around a u-turn once, I was my first time attempting it in the RX and I carried it way to long, I got completely sideways and stopped -- I looked over at the traffic sitting at the light, I smiled and just cruised away. I was good at handling the weight characteristics of my Tbird but the RX still takes some learning so I have been pretty tame on the road. I'm going to a road course in a month or so, I figure that is the safe place to learn my limits. :/

Good luck with the car, hope it comes back together better than ever -- All the FL guys should have a meet sometime, I say in Orlando :P

Wow, autocrossing several times. You obviously know how to handle a car.

Yes it will go up. Probably at least 30%. I guess the Insurance company doesn't know what a great driver you are.

Good idea, maybe I will go sit in my nice "un-wrecked" FD, and **** myself

For what its worth, I resurected an old thread the other day. It had a bunch of posts where people were saying why they wrecked their cars. Too bad you didn't learn anything.

Damn dude. Your suspension is probably screwed up now. Make sure everything is evenly spaced with the tires. Hope you only need an alignment or something but I doubt it.

I agree with Adam, you must have been going pretty damn fast for you to skid enough to hit a curb that hard. Sorry about your experience, good luck with the repairs. I hope you've taken something away from this.

I think this is about the 10th post this year or so from a young person having an incident under questionable circumstances....

chill dude, I think adamc means well, his tactics are just a bit, uh, unrefined. we've had a run in before, but I think he's just an enthusiast who has made it his personal crusade to save the seven from auto darwinism.

everyone makes mistakes, or has accidents. take your lumps like a man and learn from them. sorry this happened to you, but it can be fixed.

that's kinda harsh. The man just wrecked his FD. Think of how you would feel if it happened to you... oh wait, that wouldn't happen to you cause you're a professional driver

no doubt, but it was provoked. instead we should focus on who he should go to to get the car fixed and any recommendations or hookups from fellow seven drivers in his area.

this is why i stopped posting on these forums for awhile. instead of treating others with a little compassion, people just want to talk **** and act better than everyone else. doesnt matter what the topic is, theres always people trying to degrade and **** talk someone.

everyone makes mistakes adam c. if you havent already (...and forgotten about them), you're day will come.

but there wasnt any real need in trying to be an *******. you dont know me or anything about my situation/life-in-general, so all your doing is making yourself look like a dick by trying to act like a badass. grow up buddy.

eh thanks to everyone else for the support though.

Two words = throttle control

How do you spin the tires making a u-turn if you were driving slow...hmmmmm
Car must have a lot of HP to spin the tires at 2000 RPM

but hey you said
