you can use 2 1/2 inch hockey pucks with a stong grade bolt running through them. its easier if you have two steel mounts but can be done with that aluminum one too.

There are many vendors that sell poly mounts worth buying that will not transmit vibration.

I'm a fan of the stock mounts. If you want the extra stiffness of the drivetrain without the vibration, run stock motor mounts with an engine torque brace. There's a thread that was just bumped up about Garfinkle's engine torque brace, it's an excellent design and will serve you well if you go that route.

For stock motor mounts, you can simply get them through Ray at Malloy Mazda.

You can drive with broken motor mounts for a LONG time with no ill effects. So, if you need to get back on the road pronto, just run on the existing mounts. New mounts will stiffen the drivetrain up and make the car nicer to drive, of course.

The original FD's had one aluminum and one cast iron motor mount, later they were changed to all cast iron. The aftermarket mounts only work on the cast iron arms since the mount is "glued" to the aluminum arm and the cast iron ones are bolted on.

hi Dale,
will it be ok if i find a steel passenger side mount and put it in place of the drivers aluminium one?
i heard that they are intercheangeble but also heard that the alu mount has a nub that pushes the pan at some point .the steel mount does not have it. will i have oil leak? should i search for a mazdas steel drivers side?
thanks!
