Most reliable setup for 500rwhp

hey guys...

ok, im a very BIIG race fan and so far i'm loving my rotory. i just want to make it go much faster! i know my limitations as well as the limitations of the 13B and im not some sort of race fanatic who's going to put all his money into his car to make a 700rwhp drag monster. lately, i've been thinking and researching different variations of power setups that will get me around 500 rwhp. i've been thinking about porting the engine, upgrading to a much larger single turbo (possibly/probably the t88) and doing some intake/exhaust work (ie. cat bak/straight pipe, down pipe, hi-flo cat) and of course upgrading the ecu. im sure there are at least a few of you who have numbers like what i'm looking for. if theres any way you guys can help me out and suggest the products that work best and will help me to achieve the most reliable 500rwhp setup, i will appreciate your gratitude immensly. thank you much.

First of all, reliability at those power levels is all in the tuning. I suggest that you find a reputable tuner in you area and ask him what kind of ecu he usually works with before you go out and buy one.

Secondly, with that much power planned, you're almost certainly going to have to pull the engine to get it rebuilt with a large street port. Is this your only transportation? If so, you may want to consider the fact that this step will require at least a month of you car being totally inoperable.

Thirdly, do you have the cash? The rebuild will run you at least 6000 with the pulling and re-installing of your engine. A turbo kit can easily throw on another 5000, not to mention ignition, fuel, exhaust, and IC upgrades.

Lastly, I see that you live in the People's Republic of California, home of the smog *****. Do you realize that it is virtually impossible to pass smog with the mods necessesary for 500 hp?

If you have the means/desire to go ahead with this, USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION, read some books, check out the single turbo function, and last but definitely not least, talk with people who have reached the goals your striving for. Their knowledge through experience can be invaluble.
