where can the axles be found?

and how safe would a launch on drag radials be with just the diff brace?

That depends on your power. Some of the local guys here have been snapping axles (as well as PPFs) using drag radials and the KAAZ diff (pushing about 360rwhp). As soon as you strengthen one area, that makes another area that much weaker.

drag racing is not my expertise but there is of course some crossover between drag racing and road racing...

that said, there's lots of talk re a diff brace and the KAAZ dif. there are 2 other areas that highly contribute to wheel hop.

the huge amount of slop (evident when you jack up the rear of the fd under the diff) of the rubber rear gear bushings.... absolutely replace them w nylon.

the very important lower longitudinal link. specifically the front rubber bushing. absolutely replace this bushing w nylon. it feeds most of the power into the car and is total junk engineeringwise. the link is really nice, all you have to do is switch the bushing.

you can have someone make the bushings for you. i have a guy in wisconsin who you can use if you wish:

so howard, you're suggesting that nylon bushings are a better solution than the "band aid" fix of a diff brace?

i don't think the diff brace is a bandaid. the diff brace helps the PPF and solidifies the lower axis of force while the nylon bushings support the upper axis of force. i just mentioned it because it was not on the list and should have been. the nylon bushings are as important as the diff brace.

If you're using real drag tires with soft sidewalls like M & H's and you'll be happy with 1.6 60's then you don't need anything done honestly. I ran for years with no diff problems after I started using soft sidewall tires for drag racing. I'm actually interested in Howards vendor for the bushings though.

You should also upgrade the motor mount, with slicks your going to have to launch at a higher rpm. maybe 6500 to even near redline. a 6puck clutch upgrade will also help.

a line lock is a little extreme no?

back the rear wheels into the water, blip the throttle let go of the clutch and hit the brakes. then just do what you need to do with the throttle to keep the tires moving fast enough not to stall out.

Okay I just noticed in another thread you started, asking what you need to run nitrous, that you don't actually have an RX7. What's with all these questions? Are you trolling wasting people's time?

Kevin T. Wyum

P.S. I actually did forget needing a clutch as someone else pointed out and no line locks are not needed.

with a linelock you can heat up your tires a lot better, I dump my clutch in 2nd gear, to get the tire spinning at a higher mph so it can heat up alot faster and hotter. and without burning up your rear brakes.

if your going to change the lsd you should change out the final drive to a 4.30 at the same time.

Obviously it's better to know as much as you can about a car BEFORE buying. Is currently owning a 7 a requirement of joining the boards?

Also I don't believe my posts are wasting anyones time. They are providing information, that at least one person has used to prevent breaking his diff by launching on slicks.

*I think it is YOU that is wasting people's time with your negative comments. If you choose not to chare your knowledge with me, so be it. But don't question why other people are sharing their's.

you got to pay to play. I cracked my powerplant frame just launching on the street with not so much power. This seems to be a normal problem with drag racers and rx7s.
