missing and cutting out

I'm chasing a gremlin and thought someone might have a suggestion.

Problem: Loss of power and cutting out while cruising at a normal speed. I have a smooth idle and when I floor it I get power back immediately. Excellent boost and power on up to redline.

I have added a secondary ground hoping it was electrical.
I have cleaned the injectors.
I have a new fuel filter but have not installed it.
The car is a stock 93 with a downpipe.

The problem does not occur if the car has been cooled down, like being parked overnight. If I shut it down then restart it the problem occurs immediately.

I have checked the archives but have not found a solution.
I have also experienced this with a full tank with the pump submerged and with an almost empty fuel tank. I thought maybe the fuel pump was getting hot but this does not seem to be the case. I could see a dirty filter starving it at high rpm but could it also be a problem at normal speed?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

i vote 02, best bet is to do a tune up, plugs, plug wires, the fuel filter, re set ecu and see if problem persists

Does your car buck? Like hesitate repeatedly when this happens? That's what mine was doing under the same warm conditions. Not if i let it cool down completely. FOrtunately when i got better about warming my car up completely before i drove it and redlining it every time i take it out it has been fine. I was going to try the plugs and wires before it cleared up. Someone had suggested this to me as well as adding an extra ground strap, making sure you sand down the contact to bare metal.

You should never floor a cold engine ... not good for it or the turbos. Even cruising will not be that smooth with a semi-cold car because the O2 needs to come up to operating temperature. In my opinion the only ground strap to really consider upgrading is the one on the firewall that connects to the upper intake manifold.

That's not what I meant. Yikes, never floor it when it's cold. I always make sure my car is good an warmed up before I open her up.

more info

I do have new plugs and wires. I have yet to try the o2 sensor. I was going to test it today but about a mile down the road I got the coolant alarm. No big deal, just a connection came loose.

The car has no problems if it is started cold, let warm up and driven. If I shut it down then restart 5minutes to 2 hours later then it starts. Sort of a bucking or just loss of power. It acts a lot like a car with a mass air sensor that came loose, except it runs great under heavy acceleration.

I pulled the battery cable and reset the ecu and I'll unhook the o2 sensor tomorrow to see if that makes a difference.

The engine is fairly new has silicone hoses, new plugs, new wires.

Another problem I found was the oil pressure sending unit is leaking oil down onto the front rotor plugs.
