missing 3rd--will a short shift kit help?

hey,

I've noticed that my FD will grind gears when going from 2nd to 3rd gear. It only does it when im close to redline (6800rpms and above). Ive got some redline oil on the way to help alliviate this problem, but would a short shifter help??

Nope, a shortshifer will only make it worse. It is grinding because the syncro's aren't getting the job done and matching the speed of the two shafts. A short shifter will only make that worse.

agreed. just slow down your shifts and don't bring the RPM's up that high. or wait till the redline comes in and see how that works. the syncro's tend to be a problem but i thought it was more of a 5th gear issue???

also if you shorten up the pattern thats only going to make it worse. jus take it easy on the beast before you make it worse

Well, I don't know about everyone else but my original shifter was toast and I was grinding bad going from 2nd to 3rd while at the strip.

I picked up the B&M short shifter and haven't had a problem since. But, like I said the bushings on my old shifter were well past their prime.

Jason's got torque braces for sale. A lot cheaper than the Feed models too. They don't have the fancy dampers but they do the job. Try the store.

The B&M short shifter helped keep me from missing 3rd...I miss the 2-3 once in a while still, but it's much much better. The shift I used to miss more than the 2-3 that I never miss now is the 5 down to 3 to hit a highway roll rom 60 - 80mph...

The Redline will help out as well...

As far as torque braces, I haven't tried one yet, although I did just get the rotorsports urethane engine mounts ... will let you know how they work out once I get them installed.

B & M Short Shifter works wonders for the 2nd to 3rd shift.
