Midpipe install question..Pic inside...
Hey guys,
Im installing my Rx7store midpipe...this line was running to my stock midpipe and the rx7store midpipe doesnt have a place to bolt this up...
So my question is...What do I need to do with this line? Do I need to block it off where it runs into the block or what?
Thanks guys,
Shawn

When I did mine, I blocked it of by the mid pipe. You won't notice and differance driving the car. Removing the airpump is easy though. I had a hard time finding the right size belt, other than that it's cake.

So can I just bolt up the block off plate on the block and get rid of that line without getting rid of the air pump right now? I plan on getting rid of it but I havent got around to purchaseing the air pump elimination kit...
Thanks,
Shawn

I'm just alttile worried that you don't know that's the airpump pipe but yet are installing a midpipe.
Not to flame, just asking, do you have the supporting mods to run a midpipe?? I would just hate to see or hear about you blowing the engine.

If you are smart, you'll put the cat back on until your car is at the proper modding stage for it.

Yeah. I would spend a little more time researching this mod before you go and cause yourself a lot of grief. I'm not trying to be mean but if you dont know thats the air pump line you might have some serious dificulty with replacing your engine. Pretty much you need a stand alone and a ported wastegate housing to support that midpipe.

ahh great attitude. Just make sure you run your turbo timer for at least 15 mins to save your turbos.
Also, disconnecting your trailing plugs is a good way to prevent detonation.
good luck!
For all of you none believers out there... my list of mods
1) Greddy Intake
2) Blitz Catback
3) SS Dp
4) Apex Power Fc
5) TurboXs RHL
6) HKS Turbo Timer
7) Spec 2 clutch
8) ACT Prolite Flywheel
Now I am installing the resonated midpipe...My tune in the Pfc is not tuned at the moment for midpipe...But I plan on taking it to my tuner friday...In other words..Im not worried about blowing the motor at all...
Now...I plan on elimating all my vac lines, Bolting up all block off plates, double throttle, air pump, etc, etc...
But at the moment I dont have the air pump eliminator kit yet...So what should I do with this line? Plug it with a bolt? or what?
I am aware when I install my eliminator kit I will be able to totally get rid of this line..But in the mean time...What do I need to do with this line? If I just plug it is my car gonna run right?
Thanks,
Shawn

I must be a non-believer. The only thing I see that is helpful in your list of mods is the PFC. What about the other things that you might need to run the midpipe?

Hey guys,
Thanks for the input on this...I just plugged the line for now...I will let my tuner handle the rest when I take it to him....
The car runs fine..Thats all im worried about right now...As long as it will drive a couple blocks to the tuner, I think it will be fine...
Thanks Again,
Shawn

This is kind of funny. Here I am a new FD owner, the car came with a midpipe. I am hoping I can get some kind of money out of it ( as in I am selling the midpipe), because I want to keep my engine whole. I am replacing the midpipe with a Bonez cat. The car is plenty fast right now, without risking the brand new engine by trying to get a few more horses of it without doing the right mods.

It won't be very much fun driving an FD that now has a new 'safe' redline of 6000 rpms

Again if he's granny driving, the engine wont see rpms higher than 3k. I can drive my stock seq Fd that way all day and be happy only hitting 5psi. He can do the same which is my whole point untill he tunes it. Your right about him needing more intercooling and fuel.
