I am french and I recently imported an fd from the UK, which was a japan import (so its a jdm).

I am currently looking for more info about my car model and rarity, i've found some info but I don't know if it's reliable...

I don't know if this website is reliable, and if it is, if this spec is rare ? (idk there is a lot of words, I know bathurst is a limited edition but thats kinda it).

The vehicle's history is kinda scuffed, but it currently has leather seats, alloy wheels and A/C, and I don't think those were added.

What does everyone think ?

I'd be cautious about clicking on a link from someone new to the forum, as that is a typical scammer ploy phishing ploy.

Type RB Bathurst X * were made in the 1996 (version 4) model year. Your VIN number is for a Version 2 car.

* They came in Black or White with red leather interior.

The earliest "bathurst " editions were Version 3 cars.

It is entirely possible that someone swapped bathurst options onto a Version 2 car. Sort of an OEM+ modification.

 

Do you have a reliable website to check the vin then ?

I tried to contact Mazda, they redirected me to Mazda Japan but Mazda Japan never replied…

 

I ran a report on my car on https://carvx.jp and the report they returned was consistent with dats I had from prior car search.

Autocheckjp. was very good, but they seem to have shutdown.

You may find search engines with Russian URL's. Best to avoid those as they seem to be part of a massive phishing scheme that picks on people searching JDM VIN across all marques.

I just clicked on autochecjp and it went to some dating site, with a totally different URL.

 

There should be a firewall plaque and a doorjam sticker showing the VIN. Some show date of manufacture.

The VIN should be stamped on the upper firewall.

The difference between types are usually based on different parts options. But such parts are often swapped out with aftermarket parts, thus erasing the distinction between types.

There is not a large difference in valuation of the early RHD types, so I would not be too concerned about what Type you car actually is.

 

This is the sales catalogue for a 1994 RHD, likely for version 2. If you can find one it is a good source of the explanation of the differences beteen types. Special editions may have had separate sales brochures.
