If you don't buy from them, they'll be out of business. Do you think Megan racing is going to develop new QUALITY parts in the future without somebody to copy? I think not.
I can't argue with that, it is the only reason I would personally consider buying one of the name-brand downpipes (to support a local performance shop). But to each his own...

I bought the dp only and am currently installing it. The only prop I have at the moment is getting it to hook up to the mp (i have to drill out the holes a little more) but it attached perfectly to the turbo. I am taking pics along the way and will also post remarks about my experience. http://stores.ebay.com/WWW-SSAUTOCHROME-COM also has a cat-back system that looks nice! What do you think (pm me)

Luizajeff, it sounds like you had a similar experience as Mitch. The thing didn't fit right, and had to be modified. Since this is such a "simple" item to manufacture, you would think that they would be able to put it together correctly.

I'm glad I spent the extra money for my M2 DP, and I'm a Cheap Bastard

I just installed my Megan Racing DP with no modifications needed. The only problem I ran into was a bolt breaking still threaded when taking the stock pipe off. As far as the DP install, it went in without a fight. Great quality especially for $100.

Glad it went easy for you. Did you use the stock studs/nuts?

politics aside, the bottom line: I agree with Mitch - saved money, install no big deal, performance gains substantial and Id give the overall an 8 also.

I used 4 stainless socket head bolts and countersunk the holes instead of grinding. Quick, uniform and easy.

here are a couple of my posts re: the megan downpipe

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...hreadid=280633

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...hreadid=267966

on the political note: we are all driving a japanese car, not a ford, chevy, chrysler etc. and after all this is just a stainless pipe, it shouldnt cost $300.00.

luizajeff - Im up in Everett if you want to get ahold of me with any questions on your install. email me.

chuck

you cant tighten your dp with alan bolts good luck getting in there with that. I may be wrong I dont have access to a twins dp.

It looks like if they would have welded it from the inside there wouldnt be problems with having to shave down the welds. Careful not to go too far or youll have an exhaust leak. BTW the welds look OK to me a little thin but fairly neat and ive got some welding knowledge. Better than my greddy elbow any way

I think its just a feeling that you have. If you care about brand names like me you would want to have a pettit downpipe or something. Even though the product MAY be almost the same with the pettit or other good brand you know you did all you could do to get the best part on your car. Theres too many other problems that happen on this car to go cheap on mods and possibly cause more problems in the future. (exhaust leaks since the flanges didnt line up totally flush....lets not freak out about it we can understand both sides

SCOTTY, BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR DILITHIUM CRYSTALS FIRST

the socket head (allen) bolts will work fine. i counter sunk the holes slightly first to give the bolts a uniform contact area. use a cheater bar to get leverage on your allen wrench to torque them down. ive gone back to the bolts twice to check for any loosening - didnt need to be tightened at all. remember, max length about .75 inches. any longer and you will bottom out on 2 of the holes.
good luck,
chuck
