Mazda Rx7 Wierd Overheating Problem!!
I Was Wondering If You Could Help Me Out As I Have A Mazda Rx7 Twin Turbo 1993 Efini. The Car Is Totally Standard And Has A Problem Of Overheating I Think. Whenever Im Driving At Times The Fan From The Radiator Does Not Turn On And Water Leaks From The Overflow. Sometimes The Car Runs Perfect And Does Not Heat. The Tempurture Guage Stays Normal But The Light Comes On Saying Add Coolant. Do You Know What May Be Wrong With It? Do You Think It May Need A New Thermostat? Where Is The Thermostat Located? Do You Have Any Websites That May Help? Also Do You Think There Might Be Something Wrong With The Fan? I Would Really Appreciate If A Fellow Owner Could Help Me As This Club Really Inspired Me In Buying This Car!
Thanks

The fan not turning on is a huge issue and should be addressed immediately. If that fan doesn't turn on your car will overheat. Water coming out of the overflow is a bad sign that gas maybe entering your cooling system and pushing the coolant out at its weakest point (overflow tank) Check for leaks in the hoses. This may be a sign of O'ring failure or maybe you just need to flush your system and make sure you "burp" it properly. The thermostat is off the coolant filler neck. It should be replaced every year for reliability. Your coolant light coming on may be a sign of you either losing coolant or pressure or both or that the coolant light is faulty.
All the above can be found on multiple threads with a search. good luck.

Check your fan by first unpluging two connectors located on the passenger side. Trace it by following the leads from the fans. Try downloading some electrical circuit diagram. Ground the proper lead to the fan, use aligator clip lead from battery + positive side and just tap the other terminal. If it spins, than its probably something else,
Back track now to the Fan relay switch located on passenger side next to top of strut. Its four rectangular looking modules covered in rubber. Don't have a picture, just going off the top of my head. There is a thread on by passing the ECU and connecting directly to the Fan Relay.
See if this works, if not then have someone with electrical knowledge work on it. My FD is set up this way, because I like to have more control over things.
Good luck

do you have a aftermarket temperature gauge?
turn on your lights while driving, most electrical equipment will make the fans come on a bit earlier at 100degrees.
If i were you, i would be asking where there is a good rotary mechanic nearby?
