Mazda reman proof?
I did a little searching and wasn't able to come up with a solid answer so here goes... Is there some way to visually prove an engine was rebuild by a mazda dealer? Maybe a stamp of some sort? or any other identifying marks of any kind.
Thanks

The reman engines have a ID tag on the front cover. This contains the serial # of that engine. This said, The company that builds the engines for Mazda is named " Williams technologies". They are located in Sommerville SC. They are owned by CAT( Catapillar) and primarily rebuilt automatic trannies before. There are no dealers that i know of that rebuild them themselves.
here is a link to my saga that is ongoing still. More to be determined tomorrow.

Thanx for the info. Do you have a picture of what this ID tag looks like? I'm going to be checking out an FD and i wanna be able to tell the engine has a reman like the seller says. Sorry to here about your situation, good luck with that bro.
Thanks again for the help.

The bummer about that tag is that it isn't really visible while the engine is installed in the car.
Another way to generally tell if the motor is a reman is to check for crappy peeling silver paint on the front cover water pump housing and water filler neck.

Mine are from Malloy as well They all are made by Williams tech.
Jeff is rite about the crappy paint. And the fact that the tag is covered by the vaccum tank when installed. Ask for a reciept if you have doubts
And my situation will resolve itself. Ray is a Awsome guy to deal with and he is being more then simpathetic to my problem. As he knows I am losing tons of labor costs. But in the end it will all be OK.

One last question... the car i am looking at has a Peter Farrel SMIC, would this make it easier to see the ID tag? I would still apreciate a picture of it anyway just i know. Thanks again for the help.

The Peter Farrel SMIC won't make a difference. As stated above, you really can only see the tag if you remove the vacuum chamber. Unfortunately, removing it is not a 5 minute job. The tag looks like this:
