Maybe it's time to give up

sorry this is a little long.....

Some months ago the RX7 didn't want to start and after several bumps it finally did (94 - 49,000 - stock) but had a difinite knock. Pulled the engine nothing wrong, had it looked at by Atkins, and they said it was carbon knock. Rebuilt it and finally got it back in the car and the first time we started it, it was fine, the second time it caught on fire. Turned it over to insurance and there saying 12,000 to fix so they might total it. I'm ready to just go and get an RX8. I'm just not into doing these kinds of repairs myself.

A 3rd is not for everybody, you must really like to car to keep one and maintain it...sounds to me you just want to drive a cool car and not worry too much about maintenace...so yeah you should just get and rx-8....dont know how much more reliable they are but I have heard a lot of good things about the car.

If You're Going To Get One, Get A 2006, Cuz 2007 Warranty Will Only Be 3yr/36k,2006 Warr Is 4yr/50k, And They Already Have All The Bugs Out, Revised The Sp Plugs, etc

Far Xtingwisher...

Reckon I'm gonna mount me a far xtigwisher in the junkyard dawg (that's what I call my FD). Mine's a likely candidate for a far due to the lack of any kind of mechanical knowledge or maintenance the previous owner did.

I don't really talk like a redneck, but it cracks me up to type like I do.

You know....an automatic fire suppression system isn't a bad idea....

I have one in the engine bay of my boat. It is just kind of nice having that extra sense of security.

I don't know anyone who likes engine fires. Sorry to hear about that.

That too bad about the car! If you insurance company totals it see how much it is to buy it back to part it out.

If I may suggest a car that looks cool and you dont have to worry about it start. I would get the NSX looks great may not be supper fast but faster than a RX8. Thats probly the only car I would drop my FD for.
