Manual Window conversion?

I hate how crappy the door panels and plastics are in the FD, i see guys that gut the cars, my question is if i take the door panels off, how hard would it be to install roller (manual) windows instead of the electric ones.

I was just thinking about this today. I could have sworn one of the companies did offer a conversion for them. RE-Amemiya maybe? I don't think you'd be saving much weight or anything over the stockers though.

Honestly i don't care about the weight savings, i mean its a slight plus, but honestly i could probably paint and clean up the gutted door panels to look clean. I just want to be able to roll my windows down since i no longer sport A/C haha

I don't think there would be a weight savings, the stock motor assy is very simple.

Fix the stock door panels, use the correct hardware to mount them, it isn't that bad. Stripped street cars just turn into POSs typically. Don't do it!

^^^ +1

You'll just have a hard time selling it later if you need to and you're not gaining anything by converting.... actually just losing.

You live in AZ but already removed AC. And now you want to remove the door panels because you think they're cheap and feel NO panel at all will look better?
Yeah...and Charlie Sheen just needs to cut back on caffeine.

A/C was removed before I moved to AZ, can't always control where ya have to move to. I've seen the gutted look, look pretty clean I.e http://speedhunters.com/archive/2009...t-version.aspx

But I guess I can see how it would be more trouble than it's worth, the hardware isn't the problem the actual panels are cracked. I guess I can always go the CF route, I dunno but thanks everyone for their input.

It only LOOKS clean because it has been cleaned and repainted.

Spend some time in the classifieds and you'll be able to get a good set of interior panels for a damn good price, much less than the Seibon panels, as it doesnt clash with the interior.

I doubt that car in the link had much use before the pictures were taken. No signs of scuffing on the painted floor or anywhere else for that matter. It's a show car made to look like a track car or vice-versa.
Regardless IMO removing interior door panels would be noisy, hot, dangerous in a collision and just plain silly for a street car. It would look like the owner was unable to fix issues and just keeps removing things when they break.

While it may not relate directly to the FD, I know someone that converted a 90-93 Miata to power windows, as the manual mechanism is heavier than the electric one.

RE-Amemiya doesn't convert to manual. They convert to plexi and put a tiny little sliding window in there.
