Hey guys just finished the solenoid and all the vacuum lines and or course the last thing I’m doing is connecting the ground and I lost the bolt. What’s the specs so I can grab one in the morning?
I'd normally tell you the PN but I'm less ofay with LHD cars and this fixing point isn't used on RHD cars.
It'll be a standard coarse pitch m6 flange bolt. Grade doesn't matter as it has no load on it. If you want the exact specs, look up the part number in the USDM parts catalog and google the pn to find the length etc but realistically any short m6 will be fine.
That square boss on the back of the intake manifold is where the automatic dipstick bolts to. Normally that ground wire goes around one of the studs that hold the UIM to the LIM, the back one.

Interesting, I did wonder what it was for as it is still in the cast for all generations of FD. On JDM cars this ground joins to one of the lift eye bolts on the UIM.
There's a ground on US cars that bolts to the engine lift hook on the UIM then connects to the firewall - it's a short little ground strap. There's a ground in the ECU harness that goes around the rear UIM-LIM stud under the nut.
All UIM's I've ever seen have had that square spot for the dipstick to bolt to. It's just easier to do one casting.

Yeah the ECU ground goes to the lift eye on JDM cars as well as that strap back to the bulkhead. Also the later castings are simplified but they kept that mount. You did get auto s8's so that makes complete sense as it's used in autos. I usually chop it off to tidy up the look of the uim haha.
