Making sure pilot bearing doesn't go again?

Got new JDM tranny in, pilot bearing was measured and inserted properly, VERY careful reassembly.. hope it doesn't go again!

my front belts are really tight (they squeak if looser) any chance that offset the eshaft last time and ate it?

also, sometimes i notice when stopped and i put it in gear i feel like a very slight thud on the floorboard like the engine shifted a little bit, is that normal? it's really minimal i'm just being critical at this point and happy to be on the road boosting and driving normally, hoping it stays that way :/

How long would it be between putting a new pilot bearing in and it eating it up?

What'd it start sounding like? I recently replaced my tranny, flywheel, and clutch and that included a new pilot bearing. I cant see how this would get eaten up. Are you sure you pushed it all the way in? Did you put the little stopper ring in with it? Did you grease it up before you put it in?

1. There's not much to do to prevent pilot bearing failure except for don't drive the car.

2. The engine shouldn't shift or anything. If it is, your motor mounts are toast (which not an uncommon problem).

I agree with the motor mount assessment.

My motor mounts are bad , and after 4 passes on the track it ate my pilot bearing up. I know I shouldn't have even made those passes but thats behind me now so, but yea motor mounts will eat the pilot bearing i've experienced it first hand.

hmm that doesn't seem right, PPF and tranny help motor stay in place, can't move THAT much with bad mounts (enough to tear up a pilot bearing anyway)

the motor mounts are what keeps the PPF and tranny together in the FD. The only thing that braces the tranny is the PPF which is kept by the motor mounts

Two things will cause them to fail prematurely, the most common is damging it when installing the trans and engine together (improper alignment/not straight and true) no lubrication (were talking a small dab of high temp grease on the needle bearings)
