besides the red light that lights up on the water temp gauge, the buzzer is totally independent of the gauge. the buzzer is wired to the water level sensor on the metal filler neck. tap into that sensor line and ground that wire, and you shouldnt have to hear the buzzer ever again.

I had the same problem. I tried grounding the wire, replacing the sensor, everything! I got so sick of it.

From Spurvo - was looking through the wiring diagram. I notice the coolant level sensor runs to the instrument panel CPU first, via a brown with white wire. Then another wire comes out of the instrument cluster cpu and runs to the cpu No. 2, which is located down in the driver's footwell. The input into the cpu No. 2 is in the big 20 pin connector. It is the brown wire in the middle of the solid bank of wires for that connector, right next to the blocked out pin sections. For those looking at the diagram, it's input 1L from the instrument cluster.
I cut the brown wire in the middle of you 20 pin connector where the buzzer box is located. No more buzzer. If you still need a picture, let me know.

Check down where the AC pump is (or is supposed to be), there is a single spade connector that is either not hooked up or not hooked up right.

I'm willing to bet that Jeff's right. I believe the connectors are both black(or both white).

The connector to my water level sensor was near my alternator. It was a single black wire that connected to another, iirc.

Go to the driver's side and find the grey connector with orange plastic on the inside. There should be 2 side by side. You want the larger one.

Find the BROWN WIRE with a WHITE STRIPE and BLUE TABS. It's the middle wire on one of the ends.

Take that wire and GROUND IT. That's the wire that activates the buzzer. If your not sure which side to ground...ground both.

when I unplug the instrument cluster the buzzer goes away so it must be chained in there somewhere..

There are two places, AFAIK, that the buzzer can be triggered by. One is the coolant level sensor, the other is the block's coolant temp sensor which is on the side of the block near the oil pressure sensor. Make sure this is working and/or connected properly.
