major engine problems?

Well, my rx has been sitting for about 3 months and it hasn't been running for 2. Long story short, I got 3 tickets in one shot and lost my license. I did search and found some useful info, but would like a little more help, but anyways, pulled my ic off today and it had oil in the bottom so I searched and know that's probably a bad seal on the turbo, but could that have lead to other probs? Also the engine turns over and tries to start but it won't. And LOTS of smoke comes out of the exhaust while the engine turns. Could my plugs be fouled up? I called the local Mazda lot (Sandy Sansing Mazda, Pensacola) and they said they would charge $70 to do a diagnostic test and gave me a quote for a new engine of $2200. So what do you think is up? Any help/price quotes on needed parts is appreciated.

Well, it pulled to over 100 real quick and real easy last time I drove it on the road, but that ended up in a trip to jail...I posted the story a while back in the lounge. But i would start it regularly in my driveway and it would run fine and one day it just died and since got it started once and it ran a little rough for about 3-4 minutes, started to smooth out, and died. No it's not out of gas, my gauge reads about 1/4 of a tank and I even put some in too double check.

Hey man, where do you live? If you want, I can come over and help you out. It sounds like it's flooded. No need to take it to Mazduh. What car is it(i.e. color, etc)? What's your name? I work from 8-6 at Toyota, but would be glad to help you out afterward. Just get a new set of plugs before I come over.

Hey thanx, it's a black '93 w/stock chrome rims. I just put new plugs and wires on it when I got it, I only drove it for 3 weeks and it's been parked ever since, so I'm hoping I don't need new plugs.

Thanks Brad. Even if you have new plugs in they can get fouled in a matter of seconds. If you don't want to get new plugs, then we can clean them. Let me know if you want to get up some time.

Your turbos are blowing by some oil. nothing to worry about. Turbos can go a long time after they start leaking. That is going to be unrelated to your not-starting problem. If the engine spins really freely, but won't start, then it is more than likely flooded. I can come by after work tommorrow if you want.

How long does it take for and engine to get unflooded, it set for a month with noone turning the key.

It's not a matter of letting it sit. You have to go through a pretty simple procedure to unflood it. It should only take an hour or two at most.

An hour or two doesn't sound so simple. One other thing, the car has probably been leaking for a while before I got it, so I really don't know how much longer the turbos can last.

I can take a look. The majority of those 1-2 hours is spent doing nothing to the car. Basically you spin the engine up with the plugs out to blow out the gas, then wait a half an hour and repeat. Not hard at all. I just sent my turbos off because they were getting a pretty large "puff" on startup (James Bond style), and although I am getting them rebuilt, they still had plenty of life left in them, you just have to keep an eye out.
