M2 Twin Ball Bearing Turbo Setup Up And Running
Found a shop. http://dynoshopproducts.com
They use a Dynojet 248c dyno.
$75.00 per hour dyno time and flat fee of $25.00 to use the wide band A/F meter. Not bad considering I have heard some shops charge $150.00 per hour for dyno time. Setting up an appointment for someday next week on Monday. I will do runs at 10psi, 12psi and perhaps 15psi of boost. The 15psi. run will depend on what the A/F meter shows.
And I just want to remind everybody that the numbers I get will not be the full potential of this setup. I will not know that till I get an engine management system and some larger injectors.
So stay tuned.

What type of computer do you have??? You need to have some form of computer upgrade to turn the boost up!!!!! You also need a IC to go over 13psi especially on the dyno and upgraded injectors when you hit 14psi. If you dont have those mods I'd leave you boost at 12psi. If you dont have a computer upgraded I'd leave it at 11 or so psi.
I dont know all your mods just thought I'd throw it in based on your last post. I dont want to see any blown motors around here due to incompetent dyno tuners, it happends alot!!!!
BTW - does that shop specialize in tuning rotary? You need to make you run in 4th gear and dont let you a/f ratio get over mid 11's. If they normally tune pistons they will tell you that mid 11's is WAAAYYYY too rich. It is way to rich for a piston but its what a rotory wants
Just looking out for ya!!!
Good luck,
STEPHEN

Thanks for looking out for me Stephen
I have an M2 stage 3 ECU and an M2 large intercooler.
The shop has tuned rotaries before. And I was aware of the fact that you need to run a turbo rotary richer than a piston engine. The only reason I would try runs above 12 psi. is if the A/F meter showed me the engine was running rich enough to turn up the boost a little at a time. I also have a J$S knock sensor that is turned to max sensitivity and never retards at 12 psi.

ball bearing turbos
Damn! Here I thought I could let my checkbook recover for a while. After reading about the lack of lag and thinking about the HP potential.....gottahavem. Let the madness begin. Again.

what are you aiming for?? 390?? 400?? 410??
JoeD, what I am aiming for is 400+hp and 20 psi of boost but until I get a programable engine management system and bigger injectors I am limited in how much boost I can run. We will see tomorrow how far I have to go to get to 400+ hp.

JoeD, Funny you should post this, because I just posted them under a new thread name.

sorry for the dissapointing numbers.
. im pretty sure youll hit about 360 with the PFC and 1200's.oh well...cant wait till the next run when everything is fixed!
yeah, i'm realy looking forward to seeing some numbers once again. I'm realy considering going upgraded twins, but i'd like to see some in action first. Maybe someone should start a new thread....get everyones attention again. CJ
the current situation is this....
the car is running and sounding great....engine is broken in and my dyno appt is monday at xs engineering.
Im currently working out the bugs in the thing...had a coolant hose go on friday and am diagnosing some issues with boost now that the engine is broken in. I am going in monday morning to figure out why I cant get my pwer fc to move boost peak past .75 bar.
since I cant boost past .75 bar I am unable to get the secondary to kick in as it should. I need to be running at least 12-13 lbs for the larger m2 units to run efficiently.
I put in all new solonoids, vacuum hoses, actuators...new pills in the lines....the works. either one of the new lines are crossed in the rats nest or one of the new solonoids is junk....at least that is what Im guessing.
the little bit of tuning I did gave me hope though...I can feel those turbos starting to wake up and I simply cant wait to have it working right.
an update will come in the next few days.
here are the specifics of my boost issue....

Just hearing of some of the troubles even with upgraded twins, makes me think about go single. Ah to be single again. Things are soooo much easier that way.
Hope you get it sorted out, don't forget to post numbers tomorrow night!!!

got my restrictor pill for the oil lines...no more smoking..no more leaking.
will be putting on the m2 large and will do a dyno tune as soon as xs is up and running....
I replied to this on some other threads...but wanted to update all the threads...so here ya go.
I cant wait to get it tuned...Ill post my sheets for you all to see.
