M2 Airbox Cover: CF or Plexi?

what do you guys think? leave it with the carbon fiber cover or use the homemade plexi cover?

i made the plexi one because i was worried about the filters falling off. unlike the SR Motorsports airbox (same design, shape, etc), the original CF M2 box does not have lips on internal pipes so it's easier for the filters to fall off.

i figure, with the plexi, i can just look to see that they haven't fallen off, but i'm not sure if i like the look of it.

what do you guys think?

pics.....

I would be concerned about the plexi getting dirty on the inside. I guess if you don't mind the maintenance, it wouldn't be a bad option but I would probably use just a painted cover.

Filters aren't likely to fall off, even without a bead, since they aren't under pressure like IC hoses... if you tighten the worm clamps, you should be good. None of my intake plumbing has a bead, and it never goes anyplace.

I'd stick w/ the CF.

Or a dab silicone adhesive caulk on the tubes to help keep the filter sleeve on if your worried about it.

Go with the cf. It makes it look more custom and the plexi looks cheap in my opinion. but hey, I'm a ricer.

I've owned both, but i did like the carbon fiber better because the plexi didn't really match anything under the hood.

I am torn in your decision. I have had the M2 carbon airbox, and have also had problems with the filters popping off, obviously without my knowledge. I like the the look of the standard M2 CF box, but I can can see you concern. The plexi option does open benefits, but how often do you really pop the hood of your car anyway?
