low compression, no symptoms

while getting my oil changed this morning i decided to get a compression test done. the other threads i've read people quote 3 numbers, but all i got back was a strip of paper. on it were two graphs like the ones you see at the hospital monitoring your heart. both graphs show readings of around 3.5 kg/cm2 40 lb/in2. this seems really really low to me. it's original engine, 100k, so i'm expecting bad results but this seems like my car shouldn't even be able to move. but it drives fine, doesn't have problems starting, no symptoms. so what should i make of this? thanks.

i circled the two graphs the guy said were the results. i've read in this one other thread that low compressions sometimes the car still runs fine, but this just seems too low to be true???

I looked at your graph and am now wondering ... How the hell does your car even run with such a low PSI? Is it because I'm reading it wrong

that's my thinking, how can it be so low and the car still runs...i'm a newbie and don't know exactly what the compression test does but i imagine if it's this low all the seals must be gone? well, for now i guess i'll just let it go as a bad test, hopefully they didn't screw up anything else while they were doing it. thanks.

Compression check is done to make sure that your seals are sealing to the rotor housing(apex seal) and to the intermediate/end plates(corner seal/side seal). If the rotor goes to it's "Compression" side, and you have low compression, then one(or more) or your seals is bad.
