In Love

For the holidays I decided to dismantle my turbo's to install a new manifold and install a new lower intake metal gasket. It took about 4 hours to pull everything apart. One day to clean everything up and paint a few things. One full day to put everything back together with all new manifold, and gaskets all around. I took it for a ride after I was done, Yes it was a one time put back together, and WOW. The power is awesome.

Note: I had a huge crack in my manifold between the turbo's and the engine, Replaced. My intake paper gasket was blown in three places, Replaced with metal. All the other gaskets were also replaced.

My baby:

Thanks for the compliments:

The wheels are SSR intergals with Yoko rubber, 17-8.5 by 17-9.5

I got the metal gasket from Pettit.

I realized I need to replace them because I got alot of code 17's. The engine compartment was getting louder and louder. I have a power extreme in back and the engine compartment was starting to sound like the front. I removed the lower plastic pan and started looking up there. I noticed that I was loosing a little amount of oil. The real oil return from the rear turbo was leaking. Needed new gasket. I replaced both the front and rear. I noticed that part of the block around the front turbo was white and the rear housing was black. You could almost see blow marks of exhaust on the housings. When the car was on it was very loud near the bottom of the turbos. I suspected the manifold being cracked, I heard it was very common. I actually ended up getting 2. I bought one cheap $50, and a second one for 100. I didn't trust the first guy but it came and was ok. So now I have an extra. I replaced the lower intake gasket because mine was paper. You can see the edges of the paper. All the other gaskets were precautionary and the fact they were hard as rocks. I used mazda bought gaskets and 700Deg F Silicone sealant.

Attached you can see the "stuff" ripped out. The old Manifold is attached. If you look you can see the black marks on the housings.

The wing is 99spec.

Notice the attached and all the black around the secondary turbo opening. This is a good key that your manifold is cracked.

You can see 10 times more if you remove all the heat sheilds from the turbos. The only bad this is you nee to remove the y pipe and then it is very easy.

Chris

Full boost is great. A bonus is the very quiet engine bay.

Anyone want an exhaust manifold. I can take pictures.
