Loud whistle under boost (stock twins - WOT)
The past few weeks the weather and roads have warmed up a bit in Chicago so I have taken the FD for a couple of nice runs. Car is still rock solid, but I noticed a whitsling occuring under WOT. IT seems the turbos are a bit louder than they were when I first got the car.
I have an M2 Medium IC and the M2 CAI with the carbon fiber airbox with the stock twins. The twins are boost controlled @~ 13psi. When I am on the throttle, especially when the secondary kicks in I get a loud whistling sound from under the hood. The turbos seem to be spooling fine both in the primary stage and the secondary.
Now recently I have removed the top off of the CAI box to inspect and clean the filter cones so I am wondering if when I put the thin carbon fiber top back on, if the seal on the airbox is what is causing the noise. Any one else have a similar noise - normal?
On another note, I also noticed one of my IC clamps between IC intake and my greddy elbow had "slipped" off. Needless to say I took the whole IC setup out (checked for blowby in the IC - there was none) and then reassembled so I could be sure everything was solid.

no awkward idle realy.
Yeah i read a few other threads where people exclaimed a boost leak sounds like a constant pssssstttt.
It just went from 60 yesterday to 35 degrees today so I probably wont take it out till next weekend now. I know the IC is nice and tight, so I will reopen and reseal the CAI carbon box and give it a whirl.

^ So when it stops snowing and warms up again I will give the FD a little spin and see if the intercooler piping being loose was the culprit. If not, then I imagine I will be taking out the IC again along with the airbox and get down to business.
Thanks for the input guys.

lol after I got my fd tuned I blew a hole in this rubber block off cap, thought my turbos were crazy loud after the tune then realized I wasnt making the boost I set it at and quickly found the leak.

Just to bring this full circle, After taking out the IC, again, and removing my IC pipes and reconnecting, the whistling is finally gone, and now i just hear the sweet music of the sppoling twins.
The m2 IC is kept in place by the Air ducting and the IC pipes (there are no mounting brackets for it) so I think the vibrations (and the Bolt Clamps not being tight enough) over time caused these to loosen up and cause the noise.
I have noticed the car is back to top form again as well. It spools faster than it was.
