Lots of white smoke after fresh rebuild. (atf?)

I had my engine rebuilt 2 years ago. After installing my motor I have had a lot of issues right from the start. I have driven it only 3 times since the rebuild and started it a few times. I put atf in the spark plug holes once to get it to start the first time after the rebuild. (half Bridgeport). I am using water instead of coolant currently just because I don't want to waste the money if there is a major issue. Car hasn't driven more than 10 miles (if not less) total since the rebuild. Does it take a really long time for the smoke to clear from using atf fluid?

Car is running good but I keep fouling my spark plugs and there is a cloud of white smoke. I think they are two separate issues. (tune and that I used atf) What else could it be?

I cant be 100% but i assembled an engine with the oil control ring springs backwards first run fine after about hour of running started smoking heavy white smoke and fouling plugs and very hard to keep running once turn off had to clean plugs to get it going again

I think i uploaded a pick of dammaged engine years back it killed one of the plates

You're likely burning off assembly lube and excess oil used in stacking the motor. If you've only fired the car up three times than I wouldn't worry about it. ESPECIALLY if the car is running well.

If you're still billowing white smoke after 500 break-in miles, then worry...

if the irons were lapped it can take hours to break them in before smoking subsides, it could also be a sign that your turbos are going south... have you checked them for play?

as for straight water.... *facepaws*. one good freeze and you just tossed out a couple grand for saving $5 worth of antifreeze, straight water also is not good for corrosion inhibition or for saving your water pump from a slow and miserable death.

You shouldnt need atf to start a properly built motor. A complete list of your setup would help.

My oil control rings were not installed backwards, but they were worn.
The smoking would clear somewhat, but at next start up it would be there again.

Who built the engine, and do you have any pics of the port work? List of components replaced in the build?

Also what above has said about ports
Could be an issue if ports are open on the control ring

Here's a video from last night after the white smoke finally went away and it was all warm. Think it just needs a tune. Does it look normal?

Looks like typical fuel smoke with maybe a little oil smoke. Definitely not "white" coolant smoke.
