PA Lost power while cruising on high way

I was driving on the high way and I could feel the car loosing power under the gas pedal. I had to keep giving it more and more untill it died so I pulled over. I waited a few minutes and cranked it over and it started. So I continued to drive waiting for it to happen again and it did. This time it wouldnt start. I cant get the car to crank over at all. Any suggestions on where to start my headache first. Battery, altenator, etc. Would Appreciate any help thanks.

Yeah, I'd start with clogged fuel filter. Make sure the alternator is putting out good voltage, if you're just running on battery the car will eventually crap out.

I'm curious to see what your problem is once you fix it. Can you post up the fix once you get her running.

Sounds like a clogged filter.

Could be anything really.

That happened to me once. The turbos crapped out and drained the engine of oil. Its a long story but I noticed I was accelerating to maintain speed until it lost power completely. Obviously it ment a rebuild, a lot of parts destroyed. Hopefully your issue isn't as bad. Do you happen to remember if you had oil pressure?

So its been awhile since I played with the car, I think KDR is my best bet with this one though. I got the car to turn over but the engine was bucking and jumping around very bad so I quick shut her down. When I got out of the car with the key turned one click I could hear a very anyoing I guess buzzing or ringing , humming coming from engine bay? It sounded like it was coming from the inlet manifold and when i put my hand on it could feel some vibration. WTF is going on guys. I dont even want to toy with it. I shot KDR and email today hopefully hear back soon

Try disconnecting the ISC and see if the buzzing still continues.

Could you tell me briefly what the ISC is and where its located. Will this maybe just help the buzzing or possible fix the engine jumping and bucking around in the bay. I will appreciate it man and ill continue to search around

Idle Speed Controller. Its on the bottom side of the UIM towards the firewall. It has a white connector to it.

That (new tank of gas, and then losing power) seems to me that it would be more than a coincidence. I'd bet on a crappy tank of gas clogging the fuel filter.

Despite my earlier post, I think it is the alternator, as previous posts said. If it were a battery problem, the alternator would keep it running OK while you drove, but it just wouldn't restart. The fact that it won't restart now is because the bad alt drained the battery.

I'm with adam, how you describe sounds like the alternator quit and the car ran on the battery. And ran until the battery started to slowly lose power. Once shut off, a good heathy battery might bounce back quickly and strongly enough to run for a short time but repeat the power drift off and shut down.

Probably killed a cell in your battery in the process, and all the jumping around is from mis-fire due to the spark plugs not getting enough juice.

First thing I'd do is have the alternator checked. Easy to replace. Maybe a new battery too. If that's all, you'll be running good after replacing them.

Keep us updated...

This could get out of hand. Might want to do a search on the battery thing, and let us know what comes of your problem. Everybody's got their own opinion about battery.
