the driver makes a diff as well. I watched a road race between an fd and 2 z06. The fd had minor mods and he trounced all over 1 of them and held the other one off pretty well. He even beat a 993 twin turbo. best $300 ever spent on an fd---drivers school.

Yeah, the rx7 was the car to have in autoX but not any more, the zo6's are kicking ***. I know people are just going to say that we can't get new FD's, and Japan doesn't get Vett's but I think that compairing the 02 type RZ, to a zo6 is about as fair as we can get. I mean big deal a new 40k car will take down a old 15k car.

Good luck

While the FD handles great, I wouldnt underestimate the handling of the Z06, which is close to perfect

Hey, this will be very helpful if you want to know the comparasion b/t an '95 FD and the '02 Z06.

http://www.supercars.net/Comp?source...pList=429-1266

The 0-60 and lat. accel. is a close match but the quater is a different story. Of course these are stock specs
and most of us don't have stock FD's.

my friends dad has a Z06 and it's pretty fast for something that's stock, but a mildly modd'd FD would lay the smack down on it.

but he is thinking about goin boosted though.

Ok...we cant complain about our interor for one. Second, the ZO6 is an amazing machine with a high price. I have read comparison tests in magizenes where the Z06 has scored low in handling tests. Its a big car, and that shows itself on the track. Why do we even stick with our FD's? Cuz they are different. A lot of people can tune a chevy small block to 405 HP, suspention tweaks...ect and have one bad *** car. MY dad has a C5. Its a fast car, but my FD beats it in speed and handling. Overall, i dont really care if a z06 romps me every once in a while. I respect the car for what it is, like i respect my FD

As I said before, the zo6 is a wonderful car and a bargain. I suppose it is a faster car, all things considered and undoubtedly less trouble. But...

In fact, I can afford one and I gave a lot of thought to it earlier this year. Thing is they are everywhere! All over the place, coming out of the woodwork. And yeah, driven by a lot of old guys like me.

I have been going to the drag strip every weekend for the past few months and the RX-7 remains the Belle of the Ball. People keep coming up and asking questions and admiring the car. Any number of people have told me they thought the RX-7 was one of the best looking cars ever made. Kids love it, women grow faint, dogs howl. The Vette is beautiful and a bit faster, but I still think the RX-7 stands alone - a true classic. Great on the twisties, great at the drag strip, and a real looker. I may be buried in it!

Wow...you guys think the interior is ugly?

Shiat..that's one of the things that SOLD me immediately. The interior is pretty damn decent when you compare it to cars like american sportcars like the Viper. When I saw my first viper, I was like WOW..and then I sat in it..and was like UGH!!! It's horribly cheap..reminded me of a Dodge NEON!!!

Hell..compare the RX-7 to the Supra MKIV. The RX-7 stomps a HOLE in the Supra when it comes to it's interior.

I was originally going to buy a Supra..but the price tag and the interior just killed it for me. One look at the RX-7 and I was SOLD.

The weather here in Tacoma was finally SUNNY and that gave me a chance to give my RX-7 the major detailing that I always give my cars. I shampoo'd the carpets, armor-alled the interior, washed and waxed the exterior, tire-waxed the rims and tires.

My god...I got so many damn looks driving to the mall..jeezus..I felt so damn good.

Oh..and I also ripped off those ugly *** fog lights that were on the car. Ugh.

Talk about horrendously ugly. The prior owner owned the car for 8 months. I think the trashed it. The original 8 year owner kept it very CLEAN...I think the second owner just trashed the shiat outta it.

Instead of buying the reliability mods, new brakes (5% LEFT!!!), new tires (BALD!!), or fixing the bad bushing, he spent 5,000 buckaroos on an Infinity sound system.

What a waste of cash.

Ain't this the truth. My brother-in-law always laughs at how many people stop, look at his Z06 then immediately come over and ask if they can check out my 7. I love his Z06 though, it is a lot of cool and comes with instructions on how to set it up for AutoX when you buy it from the dealer.

I may be buried in it!
Hopefully not soon, I doubt we are that old...

To clarify my comment:

Z06/C5 interior: Cheezy design (i've rarely seen a GM interior i like), no info on materials... can't be worse than the 7.

plus: at 5' 9", i can't see out of the F*%$ing thing...

RX7 interior: Excellent design, embarrasing quallity of materials. Nice water temp guage for a car that CAN"T overheat. And no boost guage for the all-time champion of boost issues.

I stomped a highly modded C5 (2001 model) six speed a month ago. Got him 6+ car lengths in the quarter. Take off 0-60 got him slightly over a car length. I have intake, dp, mp, cb, and PFC. I don't think a stock Z06 would beat me that bad, I don't care who the driver is.

Guys, don't fear this American hp and torque stuff!! Also, keep in mind if we were pushing as many horses as that stupid Z06 we'd kick his a$$!

Are you saying a 400+ rwhp FD is significantly quicker 0-60 and 1/4 than a stock or slightly modded 02 z06?

Oh yeah...I forget to mention that a Z06 with intake, exhaust and a heavy shot of spray ran a 9.99 1/4 in Baytown earlier this year, on slicks.

we can't get new FD's, and Japan doesn't get Vett's
You should make that no one can get new FD`s. the last one rolled off the plant August 31. Also, Japan does get Vett`s. There`s a nice silver one down the road from me, and I actually see more vetts here that Supras (but I see lots more RX-7`s). I`m sure there have been comparisons with the RX and the vette by Japanese mags, but I haven`t seen any yet. A japanese article would probably be very biased though. The Japanese are very protective of their domestic markets and it would not be smiled upon for an american car to win a comparison test. Would still be interesting to see though. As for the z06 being overpriced compared to the rx, just wait a few years. C5`s are loosing value very quickly due to the fact that there are so many of them out there. 97-99`s are going for mid to low $20,000s now from a private party and even last years 385hp zo6 is going for only about $40000 ($10000 depr). Handling wise, the vett sure as hell better handle on par with the RX, they admittedly stole the suspension design (not to mention styling cues) from the RX. The one are the RX will always outshine the vette and any other car short of the Ferrari 360 modena is its styling. Simply the most beautiful affordable car ever!

Hell yeah, my fd sits rigth next to my dad's c5 and they do have some major stiling similarities. Also, i didnt mean that the interor was bad, the design is great, the materials arent.
