What injectors are you installing?

The secondary fuel rail is mounted on the lower intake manifold right below the acv. You may be able to get to it without removing the rat's nest, but removing it will give you a lot more room to work with. Alternately, you could remove the entire rail and then pull the injectors. I have not removed my secondary injectors from the stock rail because I installed an aftermarket rail when I upgraded my injectors. I did however replace the primary injectors and from what I understand the removal process is very similar.

First remove the metal injector covers that are connected to the secondary rail by two screws each. Once these are out of the way you will have a clear view of the top of the injectors. To remove the injectors from the rail you basically have to slide them out with a pulling-twisting motion. It's a lot like removing a wine bottle cork. This is not as simple as it sound however because the injector o-rings create a very snug fit against the rail. The tops of the injectors are made of plastic and will break if you apply a lot of uneven pressure. Rule of thumb is go slow. I was able to loosen them up by dripping some oil and fuel into the crack between the rail and injector tops.

Once they are out of the rail replace the injector o-rings. The o-rings can be purchased from Ray at Malloy mazda. They are only a couple bucks and are often the source of fuel leaks. Finally, lubricate the o-rings and/or the slots in the rails with fuel or oil and slide the injectors back into place using the same process.

Good luck.
