Looking for a "plug-n-play" single turbo engine harness
Hi guys, I'm asking for my brother who is not on the forum.
He has a '93 and is converting to single turbo. He says a company called RyWire used to make an engine harness for this with the factory yellow plugs, but they are out of business. He uses an Adaptronics ecu. Thanks for any help... I'm a carb'ed 1st Gen guy.

Okay I just looked up rywire and easily found the FD single turbo engine harness. I'm not sure what my bro is talking about. He uses an Adaptronics ecu... maybe the rywire harness only works with the stock ecu?
Forgive my ignorance - I don't know much about turbo or harness mods. my car has a simple n/a setup.
*EDIT- just spoke to bro again. He says the Rywire is for Haltech ECU and they no longer sell a version for the Adaptronics. For reference, this is the single turbo harness I'm looking at:
rywire.com/product-p/13b-milspec.htm
Could it be as simple as changing a plug?

I just got an email reply from rywire. They no longer make anything Adaptronics compatible and cannot make a 1-off for us. Boo.
I think brother bought the Adaptrinics single-turbo ECU new several years ago, when Rywire still supported them. Now that he has all his parts and he's actually ready to do the swap, the harness is no longer available. He's had people do custom wiring on his race car but wants to work on his FD himself, with plug & play parts.
Alright you FD gurus... what are the options? Besides dropping $$$ on a new Haltech ecu?
His prices start at 1200, where the Rywire is 750. I know you get what you pay for... but that's a big jump and it's not my money or car. He knows about the custim harness guys, he's had custom harnesses built for his race cars. But he told me he really doesn't want to go that route on this car.
I’m sure he wouldn’t like to go that route, unfortunately there’s not a lot of options for truly “plug and play” as you asked for in your original post. You may be able to buy the Rywire harness and rework the plug ends to work. You could even rework an existing or new OEM harness to work. Maybe you could score a harness for that ecu in the classified from someone who has a similar setup and was moving to something else. Is that gonna be any cheaper than a spec built harness in the long run? I can’t answer that. The problem is there will not be any true plug-and-play stuff for that unless it’s a total custom harness from a guy like mentioned above. The harness is one area you definitely don’t wanna skimp on though. I’ve seen a lot of really bad things happen from crappy reworked harnesses. Even the rywire is still considered a custom harness. Gotta pay to play in that situation unfortunately.
Thank you, everybody. Rywire just emailed me that the'll build what we want for $1675 ($!$!$!$). I told him and he started cursing in spanish (I no habla espanol). Thanks for all the help guys.

That kind of pricing isn't all that bad when you factor in the labor hours that go into building a quality wiring harness. I built my own custom harness for my FD, and I spent about $700~800 just for the materials needed to do the job (Mil-spec Tefzel wire, connectors, terminals, some relays, Raychem DR25 heat shrink tubing & boots, kapton tape, etc. + some crimper tools I didn't have). LOTS of labor hours went into building and properly documenting my wiring harness though.
Not trying to highjack this thread but, what is the advantage of going custom wiring harness instead of using a stock harness and adding wiring for inputs and outputs? I figure on a single turbo car it is even easier, because most of the stuff gets deleted anyways.

nothing wrong with using stock harness if it’s in good condition. But usually the old harness is old and “crispy” which can cause problems especially once you start moving the harness around trying to spice things in.
