Looking at Downpipe's
Looked at a few online stores at all the down pipes available. Think I'm going to order one soon. Do these pipes come with everything necessary for installation? I'm leaning twords the HKS Mildsteel from what I have read seems to be the best bang for buck. Also If anyone has any info, horror stores, good stories about ordering and installing a down pipe let me know.
My first FD mod, I fear I have started down the dark path.

Very good choice. This will help the engine and turbo life, decrease underhood temp, as well as give you some extra hp. I got the m2 stainless steal. It is a nice 3" piece that caused no trouble in installation.

does the HKS down pipe plug into the stock muffler? or am I going to need to buy the HKS muffler (think its the HKS Hiper carbon Muffler I was looking at). And IF i get the muffler too will/does it do anything performance wise?

Pettit
I just had my Pettit 3' inch downpipe. I love it. I can see a big difference on low end torque and the turbo's whistle louder. It ran 294.00 from the RX7 store -- took 3 dayz... good luck

Make sure that you have enough fuel to compensate for the mod if you have done other mods and are still using the stock ecu.
The only other Mods I'm looking at doing is installing an aluminum radiator before summer. And some TBD reliability mods.

Doing a cat back exhaust and downpipe should be fine with the stock ecu. The cat back is not NEEDED but it is a wise addition. It is also very smart to get some reliability mods. I would go with aluminum radiator, aluminum AST, boost gauge, and water temp gauge. This will help you out a lot. Happy motoring!
