Thumbs up Lookie what I'm getting!!!

I've been looking for something like this ever since I got my FD and now I found it. And for under $500, it's a pretty good deal. It's still uses your stock alarm but it's nice and neat

can't wait

So how do you program it?

I've seen those keys in the Jspec catalogs, but always figured that it needs a new factory alarm to recognize it.

I think and not exactly sure but this is a mazda part. I found it just browsing through www.jt-imports.com

I think it comes with the brain, and a door lock motor. It doesn't act like an alarm I don't think. All it does is lock and unlock the driver side door and uses your stock alarm. From the looks of the key it looks like mazda so I'm just guessing it's something that came as an option in Japan

More than likely, it will interact with the brain to disable the alarm in order to open the door keyless. Otherwise, what would be the sense of being able to unlock the doors with the remote, and STILL have to stick the key in the keyhole to disable the factory alarm

right, it will likely have to have a ground signal to the keyhole part so the stock alarm thinks there was a key that unlocked the door and then again when it is locked

and for the record, there is a reason why the lightest of Porsche's don't have power windows and power door locks

The Stock alarm does not know from keys - there is a switch mounted to the back of each of the Key cylinders and as long as the remote rotates the cylinders &/or switches through the linkage the alarm will function properly

In priciple, I totally agree, Flybye. Somehow though, I seriously doubt that anyone here (well, maybe one or two folks) can do on the track what anyone in one of the lightest Porsche's around can

I think it's agreed though, that accessories like this aren't going to make you any faster, but that they're a nicety that makes driving your FD much more enjoyable. I've personally been looking on and off for such a system (though not necessarily with the key thing) so that opening the doors doesn't require physical contact with the lock, and still retains the factory alarm. This is a good find, IMO, and I'll certainly check it out.

Does this key work with an aftermarkey alarm? I had a python installed and they bypassed the factory alarm...

Cool. I need some type of remote entry for my car. Just lock/unlock. It being integrated w/ the key is great!

maybe you should explain your statement. There probably are some ricer companies that have done the same thing but still, I'd rather pay double for quality mazda parts. I would still like to know what you're refering to though

And the only way for the cylinders to rotate is by using a key. Am I right? That was what I was saying. That cylinder must ground when you use your key. That ground goes to the brain of the stock alarm telling it that the door was unlocked by a key

don't you think there's a reason why people buy overpriced parts for there cars? I mean you can go out and buy a perfect set of 18" wheels and tires for under $1500. You can also get another perfect set of wheels and tires that does the same job for over $5000. It's all about originality.

Yes, a clifford alarm can do the job better than the key I'm getting. How many people have clifford alarms? How many people have a keyless entry button on there key? I love buying things that not many people have because well, it's original

Well put, RedTT!
When I got my car, it had a Clifford alarm system in it with all the bells and whistles and......
I took it out. I wanted to stay with the original, it works fine. Plus, that damned Clifford automatically locked the friggin' doors once the car started, and the damned thing locked me out of my car on more than one occasion! I had started the car, remembered I wanted to check one of the marker lights, got out, shut the door and walked around the car, and....the damned door was locked, car was running and my *** was OUTSIDE it.....not good! People look at you funny when you are attempting to break into a running car...
But yeah, the orginality of the Mazda part is TOO cool!

RedTT is this a factory part, if so we need to get the part number. I want it for a cheaper price.

Give Audi, BMW, and Benz a call and find out who their supplier is. Although I doubt that they make keys for anything else other than a German car...

My Alpine has the lock the doors after the car is started feature but that gets temporarily disabled if you open the door. Kenwood was also a really nice alarm but they are discontinued. Alpine is still for sale but very few places sell it because it doesn't offer the lifetime warranty. It's all bullshit false sense of security, so get the one with the features you like. Instillation and kill switch helps since 99% of installs are in the same location. Theft recovery units are all you can do that actually works.
