So has anyone tried these out or what is the negative aspect of this Intercooler?

a friend has one of these on his FC, although it does the job, it doesn't really do it well. He's gonna put an ice tank in and see if that helps any.

i heard they work OKAY on road race cars, but air to air SETUPS (piping) are so efficient now days i dont think they are worth it. There used to be a company called S-Max (ref: http://www.speedmaxperformance.com/Intercoolers.php) offer intercooler that integrate CO2 injection INTO the actual core. First Drift cars to test these out and push this brand was BATL ground out of GA. Yeah they LOST horsepower running them. But since they were sponsored they kept running them. Just like enjuku and Spec clutches throwing spring through bell housing, its all about the money at that level.

The advantage is that you can actually achieve below ambient temperatures using an evaporation system or just ice. They are especially effective when the car sits still for long periods of time. So like drag racing when you are idling in line, or sitting at a stop light.

But like people have said you lose efficiency because you are cooling air, using water, that is cooled by air. Air-water-air. Normal method is just air-air so it's more efficient.

The only thing I haven't seen attempted yet is an evaporation system. This is how they cool nuclear power plants, but people have scaled it down and used it for a variety of other things. The cooling power is tremendous. But it would be a nightmare with a car because the water has to be open to the air so it would spill everywhere. And because it evaporates you'd have to fill it up occasionally, and you'd have to add little anti-freeze to the mix to prevent mold from forming.

Here's a sketch to give you an idea of the design:

I really want you to do it and make it work so that I can buy another one from you. I just don't want to do the experimentation necessary to make it work.

If you really like the design and fabbing aspect....OK. But it seems like a decent A2A intercooler with AI is lighter, cheaper, simpler and generally as effective.
