Level Ten auto testimonials

I am looking for input from people that have driven or have auto FD's with the Level Ten work done to them. I have all the parts to do the auto-manual swap but am still tempted to leave the auto in. All your input is welcome.

I was pretty happy with mine. I ended up getting the swap done, but only because I wanted to shift the gears myself. Had the shrifter been available before I commited to the swap http://www.shrifter.com/ things might have been different. Do a search under my name and you can read the whole sordid details of my misadventures with the auto. I will say this, my auto ran fine behind a single turbo setup for 5K+ miles with not a hiccup. It was still not quick enough from a stop for my liking, so I decided to swap. BUT, I wish that I had swapped the rear to a 4.10 before I went all the way. You have to do it anyway, so it's not a waste. Like I said, things may have turned out different....

My daily driver is a 5th gen Prelude auto. The Prelude forum has several threads on Level 10, and almost nothing good to say about them. You might want to check the Supra forums also. Rumor has it that many Supra owners have had bad experiences with Level 10.

My stock AT broke after 110k miles. I then bought a Level 10 from the "Rx7 Guy" at the local Mazda dealership. 10k miles later I had to put in a 5spd because the smoke billowing from under my car from tranny fluid leaking all over my exhaust was beginning to bug me...

I did have kind of a shady experience buying the parts from level 10, but the parts have performed flawlessly. You can't buy the parts I have anymore, at least not the torque converter. They will only mod your stock one. I think a lot of it has to do with the rebuild and installation (had both done locally with level 10 parts). Also use a good quality (redline or amsoil) synthetic ATF.

A friend/customer of mine just had a level 10 tranny built for his FD after his stocker died...stock twins, running 14-16psi boost at the track...standard ecu and exhaust mods. So he has the convertor modded for about a 3300 stall, IIRC, and this trans built, and pays around 4500 for it. A week later, his new trans ***** the bed, and he sends it back. They return it under warranty, and so far it's been good, according to him...he didnt seem overly impressed with it, though, as far as a performance increase. he's still contemplating going 5sp, after all that.

I'm bringing this back from the dead to see if anyone had success using levelten upgrades. Anyone paddle shifting FDs out there? I'm sold on the idea of keeping the auto transmission, so if you have any experiences with level ten or someone else upgrading the auto to handle 500+ hp-lets hear it.
