Leaky Oil Filter Pedestal

Any ever know of the oil filter pedestal going bad. Mine is leaking around the banjo bolt somewhere. I replaced the little o-rings on the inside and the crush washers and it's still leaking. Do these things go bad?

definitely sounds like the crushed washers to me.. are you torquing them down enough? I just took one apart the other day it was on there tight, there is no mechanisms for anything to go bad. Its some washer/gasket unless the surface face is mangled..

I was leaking before I changed the crush washer and after. What is the torque spec on the banjo fitting and I'll check, but I was afraid I'd strip it.

not much there to go bad besides the banjo and o-rings. I replaced mine not long ago. No leaks for me. do not over-tighten because you can definitely split it causing you to replace it. ask me how I know.

I replaced the o-rings and added some black RTV (very thin coat) to stop my pedestal from leaking. Worked great. Maybe try adding some sealant?

Perhaps the previous owner over tightened it because it took quite a bit of torque to get the banjo bolt off.

If you take it off again, check the surfaces that mate with the crush washers for scratches. Crush washers require absolutely smooth surfaces to seal.
