are leading and trailing spark plugs the same?

I know this is a stupid question, but I was told by the dealer if you switch the leading and trailing spark plug, you will blow the motor. Is this true? I want to up grade to the NGK 9's but don't know if there is a different part number for the leading and trailing spark plug. Can someone give me the part number or numbers?

I've read the thread. So 9's all around are all exactly the same?

Not exactly. 9's are colder plugs, meaning that your car might be a little hesitant when it's cold. But running 9's all around is perfectly safe AFAIK.

Getting hold of 7's in the UK is a major pain. So we mainly run 9's for both leading and trailing.

No problems except when its really cold, and the leading plugs have more than 3k miles on them. The crap build up stops them working properly.

Your dealer is kind of right. If you switch the leading and trailing spark plug *wires* you will blow your motor. Running NGK BUR9EQs or BUR9EQPs (part #s for non-platinum and platinum) in all 4 holes is fine.

Your car has two leading (bottom) plugs and two trailing (top) plugs.

Do you have any mods at all? If so, get four '9' heat range plugs----NGK BUR9EQ, platinum or non.

Otherwise, get a pair of BUR7EQ for the leading and a pair of BUR9EQ for the trailing.

Me being an idiot once, I put the plugs in like this:
L T
T L
The wires were on correct but one rotor had the plugs reversed... Engine did run sort of rough, and i couldn't figure out why, I felt like the biggest idiot when i changed my plugs the next time.

My engine is only modded with downpipe and catback. I've tried running all 9's and noticed no improvement, but then I'm pretty much stock. I have since just run the stock 7's and 9's.

Even on all 9's the engine wasn't bad when really cold. Not as smooth as 7/9 combo, but slight enough not to cause any reason for concern.

like GoodfellaFD3S said, you have 2 of each. Autozone doesn't carry rotory plugs. I work at an autozone and always bitch about how I can't get plugs for my car.
