If you drive your car in town and on the freeway almost exclusively don't install the 9s all the way around you'll lose power because they'll foul due to running to cold. The 9s do make cold start slightly rougher also.
If you do a lot of track events, etc then run the 9s.

I would recomend running all 9's all the time. Mazda put the 7's in only for emissions reasons, they are not good for the car. Using 7's is sort of like saying that the precat is good for your car.
9's all the way around should last you about 10,000 miles depending on how rich you run.

I agree, had the damn problem all the time with running 9's. Went' back to 7's and 9's and no problem

I've ran all 9s for 2 sets now and haven't notice any loss of power. I agree that start up sometimes will be a little rougher (If you park inside a closed garage it's more smoother during startup) but I ain't trippin over something small like that.

Sorry for the ignorant post folks, but I haven't put enough miles on my engine just yet to have had to replace my plugs. How tough is it to replace them, and what sort of time committment is required?
What brand plugs do you use? Cost?

I used to use 7's and 9's, but I have recently changed to 9's all around. Noticed that the small amount of ignition breakup I had went away (of course, that could just be due to the fact that the old 7's were pretty fouled).
I have noticed ZERO starting problems (starts just as easy as it did before). Runs perfectly fine even when cold. Only been running 9's for about 2000 miles, but they have not yet fouled out.
I never understood why people change plugs from the bottom. Takes me an absolute maximum of 5-10 minutes to change them from the top. Just need to pull off the elbow, and then the plugs are right there... Seems to me that jacking the car up to get them from the bottom would take more time...

Since it's so easy, apparently, I might just replace my current plugs with 7's and 9's, and then put a fresh set of gapped 9's in before track time, since when I drive on the street it's generally pretty mellow.
