Yeah 27 MPG is definitely the highest mileage I have ever heard of in an FD. But I get around 24 mpg highway when I am careful. Relevant mods are intake, smic, full 3" exhaust, and RX7.com ECU.

I inflated the tires to 35 psi,and let the cruise on for most of the trip. Dont forget its real flat here in sc to fla.The car was pulling -15 boost at 70mph.Synthetic in trans and rear and motor prob help too.The bottom line is that with the twinpower and magnaflow hi flo cat i am getting more power and better mpgs too .

The 35 psi in the tires is definitely going to help. Mine are stock pressure right now. I'm getting 24 mpg. I am going to inflate those tire right now. Gas just went up to $3.20 per gallon this afternoon. That's $60 for a tank! YIKES#$#&*!

Tires are expensive too. Overinflated tires will wear out quickly in the middle of the tread, and I'd estimate the benefit of three or even five extras pounds in each tire is marginal, especially compared to the cost of new tires.

$60 a tank? you lucky boy. To fill up my FD in the UK costs the equivalent of $115 US.

That's cool, but only pertinent if you are thinking about road trips. I would imagine that a couple of hard accelerations would blow the average entirely. Mine makes 20, but I always got to gas on it a little bit.

I think the synthetics probably have the greatest impact. It is amazing how much parasitic loss this will address.

Just did 3 calculations on mine from its recent trips.

Around town imediately after tune and fitment of new goodies.

12MPG ...this involved some rather spirited driving (And almost NO gentle throttle driving)

20MPG .. this involved 200kms of highway and about 80kms of spirited test driving.

27MPG .. highway driving, a few mild hills etc included.

I only use 98 octane fuel though...

Mods are
1998 model Series 7, Apexi PFC, 1+ Bar boost (No creep of spiking..), 3.5" Full smb exhaust (Was custom until they decided mine was a good design and now they are selling it on their website..#%^&@%$&^), mildly modified air box. RX8 sparkplugs.

PS costs me just over $100 Aus to fill a tank up here ...so you Americans still have cheaper fuel than us!

I have gotten 23mpg on long trips cruising at 80 so I can believe 27mpg if you cruise at a slower speed and have some mods (a lot of them actually increase mileage!)
