Where is the knock sensor on an FD, and how can I relocate it?

The knock sensor is directly above the spark plugs. I think it is the # 1 rotor. I think they put where it is to be as close to the combustion chamber as possable. Moving it from where it is may make it less effective.

That´s right, it is above the rotor 1 -front rotor- spark plugs. Why should you move it?
You can find another free hole for another knock sensor in the rotor 2 housing.

I use the rotor 2 hole to screw my J&$ knock sensor.

I want to remove it because it is overly sensitive. under high boost it is giving the ecu a high knock reading and the car goes into limp mode.

How do you know it is too sensative. Knock starts out inaudable to the human ear. I was a Saab teck when they came out with there APC system. It was the first system with a knock sensor and I remember reading a teck artical they sent. The artical said that pre detination starts way before we can hear it with the ear. I dont know if there is a test for the sensor to. be carefull.

Well I talked to Peter Farrall about my problem, which is what appears to be fuel cut when I go over 13lbs of boost for more than a few seconds. This is a common problem w/ the EFI PMS. he explained to me that he had the same problem w/ his cars and after doing some testing when he relocated the knock sensor to a more distant area the problem was fixed. He says that what I'm getting is not a fuel cut but limp mode from high knock reading. I'm not sure if I believe him or not but I figured it's worth a try. Any thoughts?

I dont understand what pms is, but my thought is that at 13 pounds of boost there should be enough fuel there even with the stock fuel system. If you have a upgraded ECU they should have advancd the timing to take care of the perdetonation that would come from higher boost. I run 13 pounds in my car with an M2 reprogram and I talked to the Pettet guys also and they said I could run 14.5 pounds with there reprogramed box. Relocating the knock sensor so that the box will work seems kinda over the top. It may be normal for this box, I dont know. I think I would call Pettit or M2 and ask them about it. I wish I could be more help.

I talked to some other guys today that are using the EFI computer and they said relocating the Knock sensor to the rear rotor might help. If I'm gonna mess w/ that should I go ahead and get a new knock sensor as well?
