Kill Switch info

iv been looking around and cant seem to find out how to install one.. me and my friend bought a project drift car and something electrical just stays on and kills the battery.

not where to get them, how to hook them up. the switches they have dont seem to have instructions

wire it in series w either the hot side or ground side of your battery

is there a way to do it with a smaller switch? or does it have to be something like that? i mean iv seen that one at discount auto but i wanted something i could hide in the car.. if i cant i guess thats what im going with

All you need is a switch that will hold say 14 volts and you'll be alright.

I picked mine up at West Marine for $25...handles up to 500 amps.

If you want a true master kill switch, like the ones required by certain racing organizations, it needs to interruptl power from the battery to everything. That means it needs to be able to handle 100+ amps when the starter is trying to crank the motor. Much smaller than the one pictured and you'll melt your switch.

PS, it would be best to just fix what's draining the battery on your friend's car. Get a multimeter, connect it so you can measure current when the car is off, and start pulling fuses one by one. When the drain goes away, you've pulled the correct fuse. Find what gets power through that fuse and you'll be one step closer to fixing your problem.

Maybe you should try to fix the electrical problem.. after all you DO have 2500 posts right?

Seriously a switch is just a switch. Cut a break in your wire and just line the switch in. Just be sure its the proper voltage for the app.

Actually it's the current rating that's important on the switch, not the voltage.

GENIUS!!! eh i got it after i thought about it... but i would fix it if it was going to be a normally driven car.. but since it is going to be a drift car, i figured it would be fine
