I put in a "Viper" alarm, and added a lock solonoid to the drivers side (it doesn't have one stock). I've had keyless entry for 6 years now. Good thing, as the two times I've tried to use my key I found it bends - as if it was made of pasta! The Viper engages the stock alarm and disarms it - with the remote.
I suspect the alarm is close to the same price as the keyless entry system. I have the viper and stock alarm working together. The stock disables the starter and the viper disables the fuel pump. I also installed the Viper flashing led inside the stock alarm lamp housing on the console so it now flashes red-red-red-orange-red-red-red-orange etc.
