K&N / Pettit Racing engine pic

Has anyone got a full engine pic of a pettit racing induction kit install , pref with more or less stock engine?

I'm changing the HKS for one and think I'm missing a few bits (over worrying again) but best be safe than sorry hehe

thanks in advance!

Andy

i have an apexi intake which is very simlar to the HKS one that you did have. as far as i know, both the HKS and apexi are not cold air induction. however the pettit is a cold air.

if you have time, i would like to know if there is a diffrence in hp, between the 2 that you have.

It's mounted at the same position as HKS. What makes it a cold air induction? Unless you have an air duct on the hood like odula hood.

The heat shield is "suppose" to make it a cold air induction kit. I've heard it's fairly effective, however quite expensive (purchasing new) for what it is...

You can pretty much make your own Petit intake using some universal K/N cone filters and a breather filter.

Then search for "heat shield" or something and you'll see a thread by "Damian" I believe. Make his heat shield and it'll be just like it.

This is my set-up. Cost me a little bit over $100us. The hardpipes were a little under 100us as well, but you don't need them.

Good job my email notification worked *arg*

Thanks for the replys. I'm just gonna buy one to be honest. I want a proper job and i'm crap at making stuff so I'm just gonna buy the dam thing, plus most of the dyno places have said "hks.. anything else but intakes.. they're gash!"

anyway... I was most interested in having a look at the front of the engine...if you have a look at my engine:

Where the pipe is supposed to be taking it's air from its actually loose and the air just pours out making the thing pointless. When I get the Pettit kit, that's going but where there's the hole, just wondering if there's a stock cover for it. I notice on ijneb's he seems to have a cover over it... are these mazda parts?

Nope, there isn't a stock cover. Just get some duct tape, cut out some plastic, or something and cover it.

here's a few of my pettit system. Mine took so many modifications I wish I had made my own. All i ended up using was the k&n filters and the heat shield.
