We have a few of them around here. The catch is: Gas is about 20 cents a gallon HIGHER for the privilege of full service. But it is true, old fashioned full service, clean the windows, vacuum the floormats, check the oil, etc etc.
A lot of the elderly folk around here use nothing BUT the full service at the local Conoco station.

I cannot remember the last time someone else pumped gas for me!
Why would they enact such a law? Too many idiots smoking cigarettes while self-serving??
Or is it more likely that it helps prevent people from driving off without paying??

But in my memory, the concept of 'self-serve' gas stations did not exist until the 1970s.
During the 1960s, every gas station would provide full service, and that always included cleaning your windshield and checking your oil.
My favorites were those Sinclair stations that were shaped like a big brontosaurus, and there was a pump on each leg!

I also have blown a motor after supposedly getting a full tank of '93 octane.' receipt said 93 octane, but car ran like a champ on a trip from georgia up to NJ (to include three 150 mph runs), then get to NJ fill up and detonate first time I boost it (this after turning the boost from high/15 psi down to low/10 psi). Tank was drained and the gas looked like ****. This was at (insert ironic comment) the same Exxon station that I used to work at.
Screw NJ and their gas pumping monkeys. I go to sunoco and only get 94 octane, and gladly pay the premium.
