About a week ago I pumped gas on a Jersey City HESS station, myself, and not only a week ago but always I pump it myself all the time. Hmmm, I guess the pump attendants like to take long brakes...

Damn, a blown motor, I'd go back a shoot that ***** who pumped low octane fuel on you car...

I also have blown a motor after supposedly getting a full tank of '93 octane.' receipt said 93 octane, but car ran like a champ on a trip from georgia up to NJ (to include three 150 mph runs), then get to NJ fill up and detonate first time I boost it (this after turning the boost from high/15 psi down to low/10 psi). Tank was drained and the gas looked like ****. This was at (insert ironic comment) the same Exxon station that I used to work at.

Screw NJ and their gas pumping monkeys. I go to sunoco and only get 94 octane, and gladly pay the premium.

It the same in oreagon and a few other state. It illegale to pump your own gas. Most chevrons up here in nor-cal have a 100 octane pump but it is usually around 5 bucks a gallon.

As recently as the lates 80s, gas stations provided full service lanes and self service pumps as far as I remember here in south Florida. But, eventually the full service option was phased out as a downsizing effort and to minimize operating costs. Very beneficial to companies as they dont have to worry about employee benefits and workers comp. At least in the retail end.

But Im surprised of the existance of full service pumps nowadays. It makes sense that it is lawful, otherwise it isn't too financially sound.

The 76 on Woodside Road in Redwood City not only has the 100 octane at the pump, but it has up to 120+ octane in the back. Anything above the 100 cannot be directly dispensed into the vehicle so bring a can.

If your car is STOCK you won't have much of a problem with 87 octane. Mazda knows not everone is going to put the recommended fuel in their vehicles. This is one of the reasons the stock A/F ratio is so pig rich to begin with. Also if your just dailey driving and not on the boost heavy( say up to around 5psi), 87 & 89 is perfectly fine and safe in that range. Just recently I switched down to 89. With 92 orginal miles on the clock, my Fd still runs great.

THATS IT? Man.. I'd LOVE to see gas below $2.50 again.. I think we are right around $2.75 per gallon here right now.

Plus in NJ there are lines at the pump all day, every day. At least off the big highways.

3.8 liters is equal to 1.00 gallons (US)

This makes our gas approx $4.90 a gallon. Nice huh?

Ok back to the thread hehe
