just replaced new starter having problems

i replaced a new starter on the car.

to my suprise it only had 1 bolt. the bottom bolt was missing.

anyway, now that the new starter is in, the car would not start right away.

it makes a woo woo woo sound, like the engine is not turning fast enough.

after i take the key out and wait a minute, i turn it back on and it instantly starts.

after driving around a bit i turned the car off and tried to turn it back on.

it does the woo woo woo sound again.

i took the key out and tried to start it again and it starts right up.

did i put the starter on wrong? or is it not getting enough battery power now?

it is a new mazda part but apparenlty they only sell remans now. you can tell because the put a new sticker over the old one.

the strange thing is the old starter worked fine when it is warm out. only on cold days would it act up. and the old starter never did this woo woo woo stuff, it either started or it did not. this week has been very warm, so im puzzled as to why the brand new starter does not want to work.

if i get time ill put the old one back on and see if it starts back up or has trouble.

Sure your starter was bad and not your battery?

i checked the battery its fine.

i think the new starter from the dealer is bad.

i put the old starter on and the car starts fine.

something wired, the sterminal to the other terminal gets 23 ohms. thats alot i think.

anyway ill try to go and exchange it tomorrow, but im sure the dealership might give me a hard time.

The most notorious grounding issue with our cars is bucking at slow speed w/ steady throttle position. Does your car also do this?

it does buck some times. i have new grounds inthe engine bay in place though. i also have a red top moved to the trunk.

now the issue is the old starter works fine in warm weather, im replacing it because it doesnt always start in the cold.

but the new starter doesnt work at all? or it works once, but then does the woo woo noise next time u start it.

thats weird.

so i got the new starter in. car doesnt start at all. well car doesnt start normally. the starter is apparently getting plenty of power. have jimmied a push button start and it works normally. apparenlty the alarm is causing the problem. i tried to bypass the s switch? and it didnt seem to work. the previous owner installed an cheapo aftermarket alarm. ill try to remove that and see if it helps. there is no click at the starter when the key is turned.
