Alternator bracket

I got a new reman engine from malloy mazda and i found that where the alternator bracket gets bolted on to the car there is a stud there! Should I remove the stud or should I just use a nut and attach the bracket onto the stud?

you are talking about the stud on the water pump mounting area yes? It can be a bolt or a stud. Most are studs there. As long as it has enough threads to get good torque on it and not worry about the WP not sealing up then it should be no problem. My remans from Ray have studs there.
