Do the remans come with 2mm or 3mm apex seals? Seems like all of the builders out there offer this upgrade.

I would not reccomend a reman if your planning on pushing the motor super hard.

I don't agree with that at all. ErnieT with a 10 second pass using a stock reman:

Which reman, Ernie's? ErnieT was just running a stock reman at that point. He has a new setup now.

Maybe he just got lucky. I have spoken with Mazda Motorsports about getting one and they did not reccomend it.

Ok, say I did want the piece of mind of having 3mm seals and picked up a reman engine from Ray, what next? Send it to Pettit, or the like, to be modified?

Then people have been "getting lucky" for years.

The Mazda remans are not rebuilt by Mazda themselves. Mazda does a contract for 2-3 years with US based shops for the rebuilds. So, every 2-3 years, the shop changes. A a few years back, the quality of a reman was crap. The contract as since changed and the quality of the remans have been very good. There is no reason a reman can't take a single turbo or be "beat on".

Guess so. I guess if I was going for a high hp application i would want to be sure my tolerances were exactly what i wanted. Plus ErnieT has a large street port so im sure he had the reman dissasembled and everything checked.

Did you read the thread? He was running a stock reman with stock ports:

https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...9&postcount=22

He now has a new setup, which is not a stock reman.

No i diddnt read the thread. I figured it was just to what his current setup was and not the previous.
