Is it just me, or is montego blue ...

simply the worst color for a sports car? All the other colors available on the rx7 look great (I personally love sliver and white) but montego looks nasty. Even a clean freshly painted one doesn't look good. And no matter how clean the engine bay is, with this color, it always looks dirty for some reason.
Agree/Disagree with me?

I agree, but will say that a freshly painted MB FD looks much better then the deteorated paint common on most FDs. Just look at pianoprodigy's and academytim's cars as some good examples of nice MB FDs.

I think the production numbers were so high because the color was the fad of the time.

the orange/red is worse
yellow screams "look at me!"
no one deserves to wear white
silver is boring
black is almost as cool as MBM

I took a look at it, yes indeed, the car looks great. Maybe it's because the Florida sunshine effect, maybe it's casue the body/paint is clean with a 99 spec w/rims. But, for some reason, I have a feeling that deep down inside of every montego blue owner, they wish it was a different color.

I wonder if somebody actually prefers this color instead of the other choices? And, if they do, are they being truthful or just saying that because they have one...

It's happened soo many times to me. I'm reading through the cars for sale, liked the price, the mod's, and then scrolled down to the picture and then said (outloud)
!@#$%^&*, it a M.B!
Notice when people sell their cars on here, if it's a M.B they rarely post the color in the title

LOL!

Have you seen one freshly painted in MB?? I was never a fan of any other color other than Black! But after seeing one with fresh paint, I loved it. I ended up buying the one that I first saw. The color is unique and every once in awhile, it looks almost black. Also, owning 3 FDs so far in black makes me kind of tired of the color black (also 2 other non 7 I own now are black).

silver is the worst color for a sports car... its boring, plain and simple. Montego blue (i'm biased since that's what mine is) is definitely a personal preference, but i think that black is the best color for a sports car.

Montego only looks good if the conditions are right. Not the hotest color in my opinion.

i agree that it is the worst out of the the color options for the FD. But i wouldn't go as far as to say the color is the worst color for a sports car....

my particular favorites are silver, black, white in that order for the available colors for the 3rd gen FD...

The best thing about silver is, it always looks clean. Even when its a little dirty, it still shines saves me time at washing my car...

I personally own a MB fd, and I think the best 7 color is black by far. I really don't like silver because there is bazzzillions of silver cars out there and it's boring. The MB color is not the best on the fd, but you can't deny that it isn't unique. I love the flip in color expecially at night. I think it really is a beautiful color, but just my .02.

MB has actually been my favorite color for the FD since the car was released. I think the color adds a touch of class to the car, and I like the contrast between the classy color and the aggressive "racecar for the street" looks and flavor of the FD. I distinctly remember when I was like 12 years old seeing an MB parked next to a Black FD at the dealership, and I deciding that I would own an MB with tan leather someday.....

I used to own a MB. No matter how hard I tried to tell myself the colour was 'nice', I couldn't convince myself.

I looked at many FDs before buying my MB. It is by far my favorite color. I absolutely did NOT want a black one, becuase all my past cars where black. It is too time consuming to take care of the paint, and once I had my Z's paint perfect I didn't want to drive it or touch it. My least favorite color is the red. I like the MB, yellow, white, silver, black in that order. *shrug*
So yes, I can honestly say I love the color

One of my rx7 buddies is in love with montego blue. But then again, he's owned 2 MB and I know he got both of them for a steal of a price. Maybe he's stuck with MB and has learned to like it. Personaly, when I went looking for an RX7 I was willing to get any model and any color so long as it wasnt MB.

I've owned my MB for a little more than 3 years now. Personally I always wanted a white 3rd gen with all black interior. I would have to admit that I was not in love with the color when I first got the car, but through out the years that I have owned it the color has grown on me. I love the fact that I am privileged enough just to own a 3rd gen rx7 no matter what color it is. My car is in the shop right now getting a fresh paint job and a few extra add ons for the exterior. I always said I was going to change the color when I got a paint job, but I would rather keep the car numbers matching for collectors reasons.

Phil,
I love your MB FD!!! I was drooling over it when I bought my car. I think the 99 spec stuff looks the best on MB for some reason... don't know why. I also envy those base seats you have in it(man, I miss mine).

haha, this is a funny thread!!! MB owners UNITE!!! i, personally, like the color. my car has been repainted though. . . and whoever painted it, but a little more green in it i think. most locals say, "whos the guy with the green FD?" when the sun flickers across it (when its clean ) it looks awesome. at night, my car looks black. . . period. i thought it was funny that it did look black, and since im colorblind (partially) i thought it was just me, but everyone else said the same thing so. . . meh.
