I have the only FD in my town that isn't red, so MB is fine w/me. This is sorta off topic, but does anyone else's MB car get VERY dirty right after the rain? I can't keep mine clean to save my life lol.

I do like MB at certain light angles. (particularly in little light at all!) In the direct sunlight it just looks too green to me. I think the color would win more hearts if it changed between black and blue. Sort of like some of the "night hawk black" painted V6 accords(but without the flake). Just ditch the green all together! Green is okay, but the shade of green in that paint to me, if fugly.
couldn't agree with you more!!
Hey, there was a guy (in Texas I believe)that was selling a 94 MB touring w/tan interior with only like 300 or so miles on it. All Stock too!!!! For like $18,000 on Autotrader.com. Did anyone here pick that thing up? I was going to make the drive out there from CA, but it had already been sold.

To many of the MBM's are starting to look green. You can't go wrong with a good looking MB. I hardly ever see green in mine and if I do its at night where light is reflecting off the paint. Most people think its black at night. I have had more than one person tell me that mine is one of the best looking MB's as far as color hue goes. She just photographs well. A lot more depth than black also.

The Red is the best one for me. I found a 95 RX-7 Red and jumped on it. The next colour is black cause black RX-7 look so mean. Red is not bad for how it gets dirty. Looks ok for quite a while. Black & MB is the hardest to keep clean looking cuase all the dirt turns grey and shows up really well. MB is not my fave but, it does look good in direct sun, at night its ok, all other days I feel that colour hides the car, if I drove by one parked on the road I'd almost miss it. Doesn't matter what colour it is though, its an FD and they are gorgeous.

I used to hate Montego blue with a passion, especially if it is all old and faded. I have seen several people on this site with more recent paint jobs and such that actually made MB look really good. My favorite colors for the FD are Silver, White, CYM, and Black. I think I like the Titanium Grey metallic off the 99 spec 7s the best. I usually hate silver cars but silver FDs just look frickin awesome! Even though MB can look good, it is one of my least favorite colors as is red as it fades really bad as well.

My opinion and I'm sticking to it
Wow, more people like M.B than I thought! I agree with some of your reasons in that it looks “unique”. However, just like somebody said above, “the color hides the car”. I think that’s very true. Surprised to see some people hating on silver? I see what you mean about it being a boring color, but on the FD it really makes the body stand out and gives it that aggressive look.
After talking smack on the M.B, I’ll admit I owned one last year (got a killer deal, otherwise would have never considered it) I purchased it, and a few hours later it was at a body shop. They did a crappy job, so I sold it right away.

Ha Ha!
You leave us Montego Blue owners alone!
Could be worse we could have little pansy pink, or ground moss green, or farm mud brown....
Like most other owners I'm just pleased to have such a great looking car in a cool colour. I like my Montego Blue Rx7 Thank you very much (no offense taken)
The only downside is that Rover made a very bad car in the 80's call the Montego (for those of you who remember it had a talking computer).
Did look at a Silver car before mine, most of the red cars I saw had faded paintwork, and the black cars can suffer from the bad stonechip effect (because of the light primer underneath).
I do agree that black does look good though.

It's not that I really really really hate M.B; I mean, heck, it'll be my first choice on a Honda odyssey or Toyota previa <-- was actually my first car And yes, it was dark blue!

I really like Montego Blue Mica, and when brand new/fresh it is an awesome color, especially the way it shifts color. As others have said....one needs to keep in mind the times these cars were introduced....a similar color was offered by both GM and Ford and was very popular at the time. As for what is best on an FD....few will argue that Competition Yellow Mica is THE best color. It probably shows the lines of the car best without blurring or hiding any of them.
In the end....a FD looks great in ANY color....they just can't help themselves!

I'll take my clean montego car over all the faded red (see pink), swirly black and the "look at me ,I'm f'n yellow" stock paintjobs. My favorite color on an fd has to be ferrari's silver from the maranello, mmm that looks good.
As far as the worst color ever for a sportscar, brown/ tan or any variation has got to take the prize.
