also, i may be 18 (17 for that matter) but what difference does that make? is it written somewhere as soon as someone under the age of 21 buys an fd, hes a smartass, ricer, fast and the furious guy, neon lights ect.... thats called steriotyping..[/QUOTE]

I'm 20, does that make me a ricer too? I think for the most car these 'ricers' are people who simply do not know what they are doing with cars. Whether it be style or performance. My pops collects cars and I grew up around them and was taught to respect them. I do not put LED washer lights or anything neon, or altezzas or anything, and I'm still under 21. Good luck with the paint Rzo.

Sorry if that last post came out at the wrong time, I merely hit the thread too late. My friend, who has been painting for a number of years just painted his car with Glasurit. It came out beautiful, smooth as glass, and still shines even if the dam car is dirty. Now with that, I must say I agree with whoever said it's the application, and the painter, not the paint. A super expensive paint is still going to look shitty if the application is a half assed job.

My 2nd gen was done in Dupont paints last month. It looks great.

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...5&page=1&pp=15

Can anyone guess what this paint job cost??? I took it apart for the painter (even went so far as to remove the "nose" (front bumper cover). He even painted the door jams and insides of the doors.

I am getting my FD painted next spring. Montigo Blue

Actually, that was my opinion. Bragging about the brand of paint you used and how expensive it was is pretentious and boorish.

As far as comments about your car, I didn't realize you had such a thin skin about it.
I don't. It's the fact that you're making them unprovoked which causes me to question what unresolved issue you have with me.

Paint your car with what you will but nothing saying that a car painted with $800.00 a gallon paint will come out looking any better than a car with $200.00 a gallon paint.. There's simply no proof, the major part of the equation is the painter/prep work. Believe me there are more than enough painters that can make your special paint look like crap.

Will anyone be able to look at your car and be able to tell you used "special paint" vs.. Dupont? Wait til it's done and show your car to a body man or painter and see if he can tell what brand it is just by looking at it..

On a side note congrats on spending $800.00 on a gallon of paint, because I'll be god damned if I ever spend that much on a gallon.. Getting ready to do a repaint and I think that's close to my total budget..

OMG, your the KING of bragging about brands. One need look no further than your V8 thread to see that. I remember way back some guy painted his car Purpleen or something and always bragged about how much it cost. It was years ago I know but I might add you were a bit older than 18-20 at the time. You might also notice your new paint is *rare* and more expensive by your own comment.

I also don't think he was bragging, I think he was excited about having a good job done.

No doubt about that in general. In this thread your doing a much better job. If you have any doubt refer back to comment #1.

If anything Jim I'm a bigger advocate for V8 conversions than most anyone. I've driven a V8 car and proven that it works well at a timed event. We weighed it and proven it really isn't any heavier.

Now get the damn thing running so you can make some jabs at my car.

You're right. My previous statement was unnecessary. However I do get tired of reading posts where someone is unwilling to look at a contradicting opinion and then stereotypes and insults another person, because they need their ego stroked.

I post what I used and what it cost in case anyone else is interested, and many are. That's sort of the point of a project thread. Are you saying you don't do the same in the multiple threads you've started about your repair projects? If that's bragging, so be it.

I remember way back some guy painted his car Purpleen or something and always bragged about how much it cost. It was years ago I know but I might add you were a bit older than 18-20 at the time.
Once again, just stating what it cost. To someone for whom that's a lot of money, I'm sure it looks like bragging. Again, so be it. I'm not going to apologize for having a bigger budget than other people.

You might also notice your new paint is *rare* and more expensive by your own comment.
My paint was more expensive than typical Sherwin Williams paint by fact, not by my own comment. The point in mentioning the price at all was to illustrate that normally it would not cost that much and would still look just as good.

The mica that was required for the Electron Blue Metallic was not something that was typically stocked by body shops back then so we couldn't mix the color in-house. Therefore I had to pay for what was then a rare color. Another fact.

**** Jeff, could you possibly find anything less important to nitpick?

If anything Jim I'm a bigger advocate for V8 conversions than most anyone. I've driven a V8 car and proven that it works well at a timed event. We weighed it and proven it really isn't any heavier.
This has nothing to do with the V8 conversion. The comments about the Chromalusion paint and the RE Amemiya tail light cover in the tail light thread and the constant sniping about how my car isn't running in other threads are what I'm talking about.

HAHAHA finally someone noticed.... this is why...
2 reasons...

1. have you ever heard of the famous saying: "a shoemaker doesnt have shoes" ??? its kinda like that!!

2. i had them on my car... actually, i mine was the first one that i did... then a good firend of mine, Steve (tiresmokin7) came and saw it and wanted me to do his. i said ok and thats how it began. then, some local came and said i want them too... i said give me your lights and i will do them. he said mine are in better condition and i want mine now... ill take yours.. theywere in better condition so i took them... i did those and the same thing happened 3 more times!!! FROM NOW ON, MY LIGHTS ARE MINE

haha... btw, im uploading more pics!

Thank you. It did turn out really well. I get compliments on it almost daily. The car is clearcoated and has been buffed out but has no wax on it. Without starting another topic to start flaming, I'll repeat what he told me: He told me to hold off waxing it for several months.

thats exactly what my painter told me too.... he said dont wash it with harsh soaps within the first month... use water if you can.. then, use Dawn to wash the car from then on and dont wax until 2-3 months after the car has been painted...

also, he has finished welding the holes in the back... i just posted up some pics on the same website.... here is the link again... they are big pics so 56K beware! (im going to make them thumbnails soon)

http://www.goldenautomart.com/paint_progress.htm

some people wanted to know how and what the procedure is for removing the wing completely.... i have some stuff written also..

Thanks

Ive been reading and posting in this forum for YEARS. I can say that Jim jumps down anyones neck in an instant with no tact or respect.
I would also like to state that if we talked to eachother in a grocery store like we do on this forum there would be flying melons.

And I dont see how anyone should "STAY OUT OF IT" as its a public Forum and is meant for sharing of information, ideas and opinions.
Jim you always talk down to the guys younger then yourself. Yet you act no more mature then the average punk kid. What gives? Were you constantly ridaculed when you were younger? My favorite is when you just go to personal attacks or the spelling error corrections.
Does this all make you sleep better thinking you are some how superior to other people? Turn it back a notch. Its the same thing in many of the threads you post. Give it a rest. I know I'm tired of seeing it. Let the Kid enjoy his paint......
