Just bought new RX-7

I just bought a cheap wrecked RX-7. Its a 93. My question is how much would it cost for me to redo everything on it. Body work, engine work, interior, and all the modifications that can make these cars the fastest on the road. Can anybody help?

Depends how bad the damage is to the interior and exterior. A mazda reman goes for something like $4,000-$6,000? Just a ballpark figure though. Basically to get the 7 running and keep it running good, is gonna cost $$$

For EVERYTHING? Thats gonna cost a lot, but since you're starting with next to nothing, you can really build a nice nice car exactly the way you want it. I'd figure it like this:

$6000 body (paint and bodywork)
$3000 engine ($2k for reman, $1k for labor)
$2700 turbos
$2000 random parts
$6000 bolt-ons ($5000 + $1000 labor)
--------
$20,000 total, approximately

There are a lot of us here who have spent close to, more than, and much more than $10k on mods alone, thats with a car that wasn't already wrecked, so I think budgeting $20k for everything is a safe start if you want to go fast.

Nick
(seriously tho, if the project becomes more then you want to put into it i am in the market for a fd with fire damage or just a blown engine etc.)

you bought a totalled FD, and now you ask how much it will cost to fix it?? doesnt make too much sense to me. normally, you would expect someone to find out how much it would cost to do everything, then buy a wrecked RX-7.

if it is as bad as you say it is (by saying "cost for me to redo everything on it"), you are probably better off going out and buying a good condition FD, and use your current FD as a paper weight.

everything is a lot.

interior: $5K+
body: $7K+
brakes: $2K+
suspension: $3K+
transmission/rear end: $3K+
engine: $3K+
turbo system: $3K+
labor and a lot of **** that i probably forgot to mention: $4K+
the headache of restoring an FD that needs "everything" and not knowing what you got yourself into: priceless

Thats a lot of money. You should have just bought a FD with pretty good miles and in great condition. I agree with JoeD.

Buy a FD thats not wrecked there is better ways to spend your money than fixing a wrecked one.

Get rid of it and make maybe a small loss or be prepared to spend some big £££. Try Dragon autosport on 01206-865444. Very experienced with RX7s and supply parts if you want to do it (and know how) yourself. Good Luck mate but really think about this and your other options....

C'mon we all know that when we are in the presence of these cars we loose all sense of reality.
