jet hot

did a search but not much avail. I just bought a downpipe and would like to get it ceraimc or heat treated. I have heard of pretty good reviews from other boards about jet hot, and was wondering if anyone as tried it on their downpipe and saw and temp drops.

I used ceramic coating from hyperkote.com. They coated my manifold and turbine housing. I was going to have them coat the dp too but I didn't want to wait any longer, so I just heat wraped it. I can tell you, with this Florida heat and city driving, you can notice a difference in under the hood temps. Exactly how much lower I can't tell you that. You can have them cote your stuff in the silver color or the black color you're referring to. Suposedly the black holds up better and stands up to heat much better too.

Did you search the forum for "ceramic coating"?

There are tons of people using ceramic coatings here on the forum. Here's a shot of some of my parts coated:

Some if it is chrome ceramic, some of it is just polished parts. But you can see the black ceramic coated downpipe.

I like Swain Technologies, and used them for my HKS DP.

IMHO, it's one of the best stuff out there. Unfortunately it's not as pretty as Jet-Hot but the thermal properties are far superior.

My downpipe is Jet-Hot coated. I coated it before installing, so I really can't say too much about temps. The engine bay felt cooler when opening the hood, so I'm sure it made a difference. Ceramic coating has been proven to work by plenty of other people (magazines, tuners, old-school forum members), so I didn't feel the need to repeat the same tests that they did. I wrapped mine as well, with some Thermo-Tec fiberglass wrap.

PS, if you went from a Prelude to an FD, you really need to get your car on an autocross course so you can SAFELY learn how a turbocharged RWD vehicle handles at the limit. I guarantee you will spin it the first few times you drive fast (not just fast, but really really fast) around a tight corner.
