Jammed door handle!!

My passenger side door handle is jammed and it feels like if I force it it will give way! It will move a little but then gets stuck!

My car is a 1994 JDM FD.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!

Simple - remove the latch assembly and see what is wrong in there. Easy 15 min job

Thanks for the reply,

Could you go into a little detail as to how to go about this!

George.

Pull off interior garnish panel, remove three nuts, remove linkage and wiring harness if on driver side, remove patch assembly - then troubleshoot. Cave man could do it. Look at your FD shop manual ( don't tell me you don't have one )

Just to elaborate a little bit, you can remove the little triangular plastic piece to the rear of the door on the inside by popping it off, exposing the fasteners. Remove these and the door handle will come away from the outside of the car, exposing the rods and linkages. Usually one can simply spray some WD-40 down into the workings of the latch and striker mechanism. This is a very common thing that happens to these cars, by the way. Note on mine that one of the studs that normally has a nut, I replaced it with a screw.

The problem is probably with the interior part of the door handles. the u shaped ends tend to spread out after some time which results in the handle having play in it/sloppy. The tabs need to be squeezed tight to remove the play. I wish there was an easy way to fix this. Anyone have a quick fix for this?

Just finished messing around with it there. I managed to free up the handle by taking it off the car (two bolts) and using a bit of 3 in 1 oil. Its now really freed up.

However, it doesnt open the door when pulled (it doesnt feel super loose either!)! It just doesnt seem to have the same tension as the drivers door where it tenses up just before you hear that lovely pop when door opens.
It must be a problem with where the linkage connects to the lock. It will pop open using the interior door release.

What is my next step here? Do I need to take the door card off?? Is it likely a simple problem with where the linkage connects to the lock release or is it new door handle time?? (hope not!)

Thanks for all the assistance so far fellas!
George.

The way I fixed it, was I dissasembled my exterior door handle assemby, installed a new aluminum door handle (rx7doorhandles.com), and relubed everything with a permanent white lithium spray grease, and I havent had this problem again for about 6 or 7 months.

However in GEO147's case... seems like the handle is still good, but its stuck. You can actually save yourself some money and go to home depot, buy some white lithium spray grease for a few bucks, disassemble the door handle assembly, relube, problem solved
